Split lips from wearing dental appliances! Vanicream saves the day!
If you’re like me and look like you’re headed into a wrestling match at bedtime then you know the struggles of of wearing retainers and mouth guards. I wear a lower retainer and an upper mouth guard at night for grinding my teeth. It is soooo much plastic and I have a tiny mouth! Needless to say this puts a lot of pressure and stretching on your lips and mouth. Every morning I would wake up with actual splits in mostly my upper lip. This would be right down the center or the sides of my mouth which is super painful. It was absolutely horrible and would take days to heal. My dermatologist finally recommended this ointment to me as I was also having burning and horrible dryness on my lips on top of wearing dental appliances. I had tried every single natural, otc or other types of lip balm/chapstick! Nothing did the job. This vanicream ointment is absolutely hands down the only thing that has complete stopped all of my splitting, cracking, burning and dry lip problem. I do have to use it every night bc of my appliances but I don’t have to re apply throughout the day like I did with all the other products. It works very fast and heals quickly. I cannot say enough good things about this product. I usually apply it after I have brushed my teeth when my lips are damp. This helps lock in the moisture even more. It takes some getting used to the texture but after that you won’t want to use anything else. I wish they made this in a chapstick type tube! I’ve been using this product for several years without any problems. I hope this helps the next person.

Good for the Body and Knife Handles!
I'm still evaluating VaniCream's use as skin ointment, but I can comment on its use as a protective covering for wooden knife handles. VaniCream is hydrocarbon based, has no added fragrance but has a familiar paraffin odor and a nice paste consistency and is very water repellent. I rubbed a thin coating of VaniCream into my kitchen wooden knife handles, let the knives sit overnight for the ointment to "soak in" and removed the remaining film of the cream with a paper towel the next day. The result is a nice feeling, shiny, slightly darker colored wood. Water beads up on the handles. In the past (as commonly practiced) I have added the knives, handle first into a quart jar filled with clear liquid mineral oil and left them there for several days before removing them and wiping them with a paper towel. The VaniCream method works as well, and the result is a non-oily feeling handle. I don't know how long the coating lasts but if it lasted only a month, the application process is very simple and re-application would be a breeze.

Eczema Staple
A doctor recommended this during an eczema flare-up several years ago after I'd tried every other lotion and had been relying on steroid creams for most of my flare-ups. This stuff is a miracle-worker. It prevents/treats eczema about as well as the steroid creams and better than any OTC lotion I've ever tried (which often tend to make things worse due to fragrance, additives, etc.). I've honestly started to wonder if it secretly has steroids in it or some other magical ingredient.I've been using it for about 6 years and a little goes a very long way for me. I use a tiny bit mostly on the insides of my elbows/knees every time I shower and sometimes multiple times a day in the winter. I was getting by with one of these 2.5 oz tubes for a while but when I moved to a much drier climate I got one of the larger tubs. I actually prefer the tubes because trying to get the stuff out of the tub is a pain - I use a little spreader knife that I keep next to the tub on my bedside stand, but it's messy. With the tube you just squeeze out what you need and it's much easier, faster, and more sanitary.I don't know what I'd do if they stopped making this. I've also recommended it to friends with eczema and they've also had great results. Highly recommended!

Vanicream Moisturizing Ointment Saved my NOSE!
What can I say! OMG! This stuff literally has saved my life and my nose. I have sjogrens syndrome and years ago also had turbinate reduction. Because of these two combined my nasal passages were bone dry and itchy for years, and hurt so bad! No amount of humidity even after moving to Florida would help.I literally tried everything on the market for nasal passages and nothing worked. In November of 2019, my dad had cancer of the nose and radiation burned all his tissues and lining of the nose and his oncologist recommended this for inside the nasal passages.I never even knew that this could be applied in the nose. So, I contacted the company which is based in Minnesota and they said yes. Many people in the north suffer in the winter and this helps.I asked my dermatologist for a third opinion and she said yes. They recommend it for nasal passages that dry out from those taking Accutane.I was hesitant to put anything else in my nose. However, I did and have been using twice a day for four months. It soothes and keeps my passages moist. It has not solved all the itching as that may be due to allergies. But, a definite improvement. I even produce mucus now because it has helped moisten areas as I breathe.I order from Amazon and make sure that this is not a third party resell as I want the official product. If sold by amazon, then it comes right from the manufacture.Stock up this winter Sjogrens friends and let me know if it helps you! Thanks Vanicream! By the way, I use the Shampoo and it is wonderful too!

No scent and works well to prevent dry skin but is greasy
Bought this based on the reviews. Overall works very well on dry skin and lasts a long time. It has no scent and there was no sign of any irritation on my skin. Advertised as being not greasy but that is not my take on it at least on my skin. It definitely has a greasy feel to it despite using as little as possible. My solution is to apply it liberally (hands) rub it in for a minute or two and then wipe it off with a paper towel. Works really well overnight. The large 13-ounce bottle that I bought will last me for two years so in reality not that expensive. I would buy tit again but just beware that it does have a greasy feel after application.
