Great addition to kitchen collection
I purchased this for use as a zester, but as a bonus it can be used as a grater as well. I really like that it comes with a cover. This comes in handy for storage. I feel the unit is well made and have used it for zesting/grating on multiple occasions. Well worth the purchase and a great addition to any kitchen collection.

Sharp!
Well, it's sharp! Sharp enough that upon second use, I took a chunk out of the knuckle on my thumb! But works great and is easy to use. Just be careful when zesting, and keep the cover on that comes with it.

Zester
Works ok, not the sharpest zester around!

Did a great job, even took an inch of skin right ...
Did a great job, even took an inch of skin right off my thumb - I'd post a picture but it's kind of gross... not so pleasant but since it's healing well, I don't feel so whiney. The Zester makes short work of hard cheese, lemon skins, and nutmeg. I am glad I have it though I will be more respectful about it's sharpness.

Good quality for the price
Happy with it for the price. I bought it to use on the heels of my feet, so I could stop using my more expensive one for that. But the 'scales' stick out somewhat more than the more expensive microplane I bought at B-B-and-Beyond, and it's just horrible against skin.. They grab more of whatever you're grating. But this zester will do fine for it's intended use in the kitchen.

You know the blades are sharp but be careful with the metal edges on the underside
The distributor offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee on the Microetch zester grater and the price is affordable if you are in the market for a zester. I have a Microplane zester that is more than a decade old and it functions as perfectly today as on day one. It does not have a protective sheath but it does have a handle similar to this one. The teeth on this one are sharp, but unfortunately, so is the underside edge of metal, as I discovered when I cut myself while rinsing out the freshly zested lemon peel. I will not make the mistake a second time and perhaps this note will keep you from cutting yourself. Aside from that weakness in metal finish, this zester works just as a rasp does on wood, the inspiration for the first of these zesters which boast they will effectively remove the outer skin of a lemon without grating the bitter pith. This one by Microetch (I want to say Micro-tech, the it is Micro-etch) works well, is well balanced, is affordably priced and has a protective sheath which fits with care. I was provided a sample for my honest evaluation.

and I have to say I do love having a cover on it
I lost my zester in the last move we made and I was missing it big time, I found this one at a price I could afford and immediately purchased it, I use it almost daily, for everything, fresh orange zest, fresh nutmeg, frozen ginger root, and I have to say I do love having a cover on it...nice size, not too big for my hands and it is comfortable to use even for my old arthritic hands....
