Nutcracker Midi Ed Hardcover – January 1, 2016

I searched for a really long time for a copy of The Nutcracker where the pictures didn't depict very fair people. Ideally I wanted dark haired, dark eyed, brown skinned people but I thought this copy would be a nice compromise since it doesn't depict the people as having features at all so the kids can use their imaginations. I do wish the constant references to indigo eyes would have been removed for that reason. I felt like the indigo eyes references defeated that purpose, of allowing them to use their imaginations to fill in the characters appearances apart from the clothes.I felt like this was overall an amazingly beautiful version of The Nutcrackers. The pictures were painstakingly detailed and the description of the Land of Sweets and the ball was remarkable, my daughters love hearing me read those parts aloud. The author was very wise in what he chose to include and omit in the storyline. It is a really fantastical and beautiful book. If you're a Nutcracker fan I'd call it a must buy.

there just is not enough of it. Beautiful illustrations, part silhouettes, part color with a delightful old fashioned feel. I love them, but as i said, just wish there were more.

The pictures and story are beautiful. My son was especially thrilled with the pop up scene at the end. The book was a gift for him.

I expected more pop ups, there is just one towards the end. However, it is beautifully illustrated and a nice story. My little brother wants me to read it every night before bed now.

Our 4.5 year old granddaughter loved it so much she patiently helped Grandma get the pop up scene sorted out when they opened it the first time.

This book is beautifully illustrated and a paper engineering marvel. A true delight to read, enjoy, and treasure for years to come.

Stunningly drawn and constructed. Each page is a work of art. This is a treat you should give yourself.

We were disappointed with this book. It’s so small and only the final page pops up. We assumed the entire book was pop up and expected it to be a proper sized hard back but it’s extremely small and the pop up is so flimsy at the back of the book.The story is lovely and the book if fully pop up and bigger would be so beautiful , was really disappointed .

This book is tiny and the pop up is only on the last page. Not sure this will keep my daughters attention. If you are looking for a true pop up book then this might not be it.

A beautiful book a delight to hold and read. I brought this little book as a gift for my grown up daughter. I added a nut cracker for the tree and also a wooden one. Presented in a nut cracker gift box. The illustrations are beautiful as is the pop up at the end. She loves it.

Only one page pops up but a very beautiful little book and the illustrations are lovely, not too babyish so will last for my children as they grow
