Excellent Shellac
This shellac was purchased to refinish an early 1900s library table and a 1920s mahogany chair. The flakes dissolved well in denatured alcohol. A 2lb cut was used for the initial several coats. The shellac layed down well and dried quickly. Subsequent coats were thinned to about a 1lb cut. They also went down nicely and dried very quickly. Keeping a wet edge was a bit of a challenge at times on the library table; but the shellac applied well and provided a nice shine.Steel wool (#0000) was used between every other coat. The shellac cut well and smoothed nicely. This is a good product that was well worth the price. I am about to reorder this shellac for another project.

Good quality shellac
I used these shellac flakes to create a finish for my typewriter case. These finish in a dark reddish brown, and hue can be controlled to some extent by the number of coats given. They are high quality, contain no wax and are priced fairly for what you get. Some general Shellac advice:- Use the included guide to determine ratios for pound cuts to dissolve product into alcohol. Less product means that you'll have to do more coats, but these coats generally dry more evenly and give a smoother finish.- Get yourself a cheap coffee grinder to get the shellac as close to powder as possible before dissolving in alcohol. Any old cheap electric model will do. Check your local thrift store. You can also use a mortar and pestle (or just a plastic bag and mallet if you're really in a bind), but it's more work.- 189/190 proof Everclear can be used in leiu of denatured alcohol, and is less poisonous... but more expensive due to alcohol taxation. Use your best judgement, and only buy Everclear if you can legally do so.- Shellac can be used on any unfinished wood surface, but works best on surfaces that won't often get wet... especially with alcohol. It wears harder than most give it credit for, so I use it on most surfaces, except for kitchen or coffee tabletops. If used on a tabletop, be sure to clean any spills immediately and always use coasters.- I've had good results combining a base layer of wood stain with a clear shellac finish to achieve the unique sheen of shellac in non-traditional colors. Experiment if traditional shellac colors don't work for your situation.- Shellac dries much quicker than most stains. Follow online guides to learn proper application process. It differs from most finishes on the market today.Overall, great product. Would buy again.

Great product, saves money
I use this shellac on stringed instruments. I like to do French polish finishes and this product is perfect for it.I only mix up enough for each project, generally no more than 45 grams ( 5 grams flakes, 40 grams denatured alcohol). I have never bothered to grind the flakes or to use a mixer. I just swirl the jar once in a while and it’s always ready to go in a few hours.Once dissolved, it goes on well and dries quickly. The whole point of mixing it instead of buying prepared shellac is to ensure freshness. The first time you use freshly mixed shellac you will be amazed. That said, I recently used some I mixed 9 months ago and it was just fine, this after storing it in a hot, humid Florida garage! This will save you a lot of money over time!

Quality Product
Good Price.Fast Shipping. Flakes crush easily by hand and dissolve fully. The color looks stunning on cherry and walnut. Very satisfied! Picture is several 'layers' on cherry veneer plywood. Note: The lumps and discoloration in the picture are from dripped epoxy and wax / glitter.(Well used turner)

Performance is better than others I have used
I really like the flexibility dewaxed shellac flakes give me. There just don't seem to be many suppliers offering dewaxed flakes. One issue I have encountered occasionally is small particles that don't desolve and have to be strained out. I haven't had that problem with this product. My only issue is with my last order. A lot of the flakes were stuck together. Since I grind them before mixing, it wasn't difficult to overcome. But if you don't grind, it could present a problem. I do think this is an above average product and would recommend it without hesitation.

High Quality Shellac Flakes! Works PERFECT over Tung oil!
Shellac is my new favorite finish! It's so darn easy to use and makes vintage furniture POP. I used Crown Denatured alcohol because shellac.net says its the most pure DNA to use. Used a Takion brush set, worked amazing!

I Always have excellent results with WellerMart Shellec
Fast delivery and good product. Shellac is my go-to finish for a lot of woodwork, and WellerMart delivers clean flakes with few "bug butts" showing up on the filter after mixing. The included picture is a pony wall cap made milled from hemlock waiting to be installed after some French polishing with garnet shellac. I highly recommend them.
