Product is really nice quality is night and day difference and yes it requires soldering if you want adjustable brightness not to hard to do just a wire One thing I didn’t like no big deal is it didn’t come with the case on the listing and in the reviews came with a grey plastic cheap case not a big deal but someone needs to take the picture of the case off the listing would recommend

This is the best screen to get for a game boy advance sp, what an upgrade vs the stock screen, you will be impressed with the brightness, the pixels are way more than the stock screen, way better to see and not hazy, almost like watching a little mini tv! Get this screen if you still have the stock one in your game boy advance sp, your not gonna be disappointed with it. I guarantee it! Be very careful with the ribbon when installing it and you’ll be fine!

This screen is amazing! It’s a huge upgrade over the standard front lit one. The colors and brightness are great, and there’s no hazing if you don’t look at it perfectly straight on. I feel it’s a bit pricey but i love it. Also the wire that came with it didn’t have enough flux on it so i wasn’t able to solder it into place to control the brightness, that really bugged me because now i have to open the thing back up and get some proper wire to finish the mod. For those two reasons I’m giving four otherwise it’d be an easy 5 star product. I’d like to mention if you’re doing a full rebuild like i did you should consider getting some replacement hinges. They’re easy to overlook (and break) but a very important part of the console. Thankfully mine popped right out but it isn’t always like that. Also get a good tool kit if you’re doing this don’t trust the amazon tools they’re trash and will likely strip your screws or themselves because they’re made of the cheapest, thinnest metal possible. I’m speaking from experience it’s not just a jab. “Ifixit” makes a fantastic kit that comes with every bit you’ll need and then some for like 30 bucks.

Absolutely gorgeous and beautiful display. What a major upgrade to the original LCD. I did the soldering of the 1 wire to make the brightness button work, and everything went perfectly. Remember to cut off the plastic on your display shell so that the new LCD fits properly. I used a new razor blade to do this carefully without cutting myself. Also, make sure you do one 360 degree curl in the fragile ribbon cable and that you do it in the correct direction. Take photos of how the old ribbon cable is curled before you remove it.

The picture and brightness are top tier. However the amount of power it drains from the battery is ridiculous. The origional battery still got me all day playing a game. After i swapped the screen, it lasts for 10 minutes. I upgraded the battery to a mahko(sorry if i misspelled) battery and it still only gets about 30 minutes tops. A redesign in the power consumption is a must. Im only giving 3 stars due to how horrendous the power consumption is. Other than that the component is great and performs amazingly.

This is awesome and brought my gameboy sp screen to life. Now I can see the game and I even have several different levels of brightness. It was easy to install if you have a little experience in working on handhelds and consoles. Would buy again if I had another gameboy sp.

I had gotten everything set up perfectly, but when I went to turn the system on, the screen had lines running through it. I opened the shell back up, and I noticed that the ribbon itself had been ripped. Either it was super flimsy, or the way that I had installed it, but I did it so carefully I do not think that is the case. It’s a great product, I would just, be wary of the ribbon fragility. The only reason my review is to stars is because I attempted to reach out to customer service for a replacement ribbon, but I haven’t heard anything since.

This new screen for my GBA SP is literally a game changer. The old front-lit screen it had was much darker, washed out, and collected dust under the layers of several layers plastic in front of the screen that was impossible to clean fully. This new mod fixed all of that. As long as you have basic soldering skills and are comfortable taking apart your GBA SP, it’s totally worth the money.
