Dracula The Graphic Novel: Original Text (Classical Comics)

A classic story, classically presented
A classic story, classically- and ORIGINALLY- told by Bram Stoker. I was already familiar with the original text of this story, having read it before many years ago, and revisiting it in this way, with beautiful illustrations aiding the imagination, was a true feast for the senses. Remaining decidedly "creepy" after all these years speaks for itself, and this new presentation is exactly what my son- and I- needed. Not exactly an avid reader yet, it seems that this has allowed his imagination to flourish, and he's reading at a pace I had hoped for. As for me, I simply enjoyed it. "Frankenstein", in Mary Shelley's original text, is next!

Accessible to younger audiences, yet true to the story
Dracula is a classic. It's permeated our culture, yet so few people have actually read the original. What I enjoyed about this book is that the drawings make the book more accessible to younger audiences and more fun to read for those familiar with the story. The artwork seems inspired by the actual book and not at all focused on pulpy renditions of common horror icons. Dracula is a book you can get for free on the kindle or find in any library. However, this version adds a new visual dimension, and it's a nice take on a classic everyone should read.

If your interested, just buy it. You won’t regret it.
Beautifully illustrated in vivid detail. I’ve read Bram Stoker’s Dracula a few times and this was an enjoyable way to essentially read it again. To my recollection, this graphic novel didn’t miss a thing.

review
Well done adaptation.

Excellent adaption of the horror novel
Story as expected is very good and the art is excellent. Unlike another adaption I reviewed this doesn't skimp on the horror scenes in the novel. In fact accentuating them somewhat. The one exception the destruction of the 3 vampire brides near the end. But I suppose it would have became somewhat repetitious so we can give them some leeway.

Over-priced.
At this price-point I would expect a Hardcover edition. It was well composed with good illustrations, but after "The Handmaid's Tale" (Graphic novel/Hardcover), this seems over-priced by about 30%. I can think of other Hardcover graphic novels in my classroom library which have superior illustrations and construction. A tad disappointed, but worth the purchase if you love "Dracula". Given the price, my expectations were higher.
