Lots and lots of fun! I just wish for a few more projects ideas...
I've recently gotten heavily into crochet, after being a knitter for years. I love it! And this book was just what I was looking for---a book full of ideas for flowers to make. I like small projects, like a flower, that can be done in an hour or so, and I worked through every single flower in this book and made them all. The patterns were great---I only found one or two tiny errors, like calling a double crochet in a previous round a triple crochet, and that was easy to see was a mistake. Otherwise, they all worked well. Now I've done about half the motifs, and they are working very well too!I'd like this book even better with just a few changes. I wish there were a few more ideas for projects to use all these shapes and flowers for---not patterns, even, but more than the pages of vague picture ideas that each section has. And I wish that there was a little more commentary, like an idea how big the finished flower was going to be, or whether it's a very easy project or a very hard one. Maybe someone with more crochet experience would know this kind of thing at a glance, but I was sometimes surprised when I started a certain flower or two and it was much bigger and harder than the pattern made it look.Overall, I love this book! I haven't used the fabric or edging chapters as much yet, but I am sure I will. The pictures are nice and clear and modern looking, and I love the variety. Nice book!

Much more than flowers!
This book is packed with fun! In addition to a wonderful variety of flowers ( and leaves) there are patterns you can use to finish work with delightful edgings. There is a whole chapter that includes 50 patterns for making crochet fabric ( think blankets and shawls). If you are a "granny square" nut you will love the chapter that includes 50 different motifs - squares, hexagons,circles- from lacy and floral to geometric, that could be turned into an afghan ( for joining crochet motifs see the front of the book "help" section) or used to make or decorate many craft items. Each pattern comes with a sharp, color photo of the finished design so that you can see the stitch detail. Under this, you will find clear written directions. Below that, CHARTS are given for each design ( and if you do not know how to read those diagrams yet, there is an explanation in the front "help" chapters that includes the Crochet Chart Symbols. As if that were not enough, each pattern comes with a key for the chart symbols so that you do not need to flip back and forth....or so your pattern xerox carried in your work bag has complete info.) I find the charts invaluable because I can tell at a glance, without reading lines of directions and needing to imagine what is going on, exactly how an item will be made and if I need to learn or review a stitch before taking it on. In addition, I can glance at the charts when a work is in progress to get a quick reminder of where I am in a project. The front of the book has very useful information for the beginner and anyone who needs a quick reference or brush up on -Fibers, Colors, Yarn Weights, Tools and Equipment, Gauge, Basic Stitches (with explanations and photos) and More Complex Stitches, Following Crochet Patterns and more.Sure, you can find other books with similar information on making flowers. I also own Croched Flowers by Nicky Epstein,100 Flowers to Knit & Crochet by Lesley Stanfield, Crochet Bouquet by Suzann Thompson, Crochet Flowers For Every Wear by Kooler Design Studio, and various magazines and crochet books that include more patterns. These are all really good books and I use them depending on what I want to make for any given project. What I think is simply outstanding about 200 Crochet Flowers, Embellishments & Trims is the variety of information and really pretty patterns all in one book. For the price of a single monthly crochet magazine, you get a resource that will stay in use and in your home library for years. That is why I come back to Amazon and purchase this book when I want a really nice gift for a friend who loves to crochet or for a student who is new to the wonderful world of crochet art!

... other was lacking and SO much more aside from great, simple an easy patterns any one could do
I bought this book when Crochet Bouquet by Suzann Thompson failed to provide me with the patterns I had hoped for in creating my cream crochet wreath this book has everything the other was lacking and SO much more aside from great, simple an easy patterns any one could do, the flowers are beautiful and a good size, the trims are interesting and pretty and then there was all the lovely crocheted fabrics which are just a selection of stitch patterns I was NOT expecting but was very HAPPY to see. It also has a nice selection of motifs all around the flowers are wonderful the trims are nice, the leafs are great and everything else is just icing on the cake.

Nice but has small issues
There’s a lot of great projects in here, but some of the flowers weren’t exactly what I expected. Why I gave it three stars is mostly with the annoyance of too many of the pictures placed on the wrong page. (Something they can fix with proper spacing). For example, the image was of a scarf, but the page was talking about something else and the next page would have that items picture instead of what it was talking about. Many, many pages… too many like that that at first it was confusing and then became annoying when it started showing some flowers and some pictures were correct and some were for the next project, and well we shouldn’t have to guess. If they fix the spacing issue and double check it, then I would give it more of a 4-star.
