Ventilator Management: A Pre-Hospital Perspective

I have been a flight/critical care paramedic for a while and now I'm in medical school. To date, I have yet to find a book that rivals this book in it's clarity and depth. It is, quite simply, comprehensive without getting into too much detail. Most of the texts I have read are either exceedingly superficial or explore respiratory in rediculous detail, to the point where it is not practical. This book rides the line between these extremes with exquisite skill. It is the best text to develop any critical care transport professional and give you a completely practical, yet deep physiological insight. It gives you exactly what you need. Furthermore, i would recommend this book for professionals new to critical care as well as those who have been at it for a while. It is a must-read!

I have been a Paramedic for 24 years and have read a great deal of information concerning ventilator management. I found Eric's book to be more accurate, easier to read and understand and more useful then other texts. I now keep a copy of his book for reference and periodically re-read it to refresh my knowledge. If you are looking for a comprehensive ventilator management reference this book will meet your needs and you will be happy with this choice.

Read the first edition, just received the second edition after taking a ventilator course with Eric. Easy read, written in simple terms and makes a complicated topic relatively easy. Strongly recommend the book, as well as the hands on workshop

A worthy purchase for furthering a deeper understanding in taking care of patients during critical care transport. It definitely is a conversational style of reading. With any subject matter in critical care, I am not ashamed to say it takes me several readings - or more - to get the most out the book.
