Great Sound.
Great sound quality. I got a 14 inch for my 10 inch djembe, but that was cutting it too close. Luckily I had 2 more people to help me get it extremely precise. If you dont have extra hands, I would strongly recommend getting a 16-18 for a 10 inch head. We replaced the drumhead while it was soaked for an hour in cool water, I let it dry up overnight and WOW it sounds very bassy with crisp highs. I'm very pleased. My only thing is it was wrapped with tape and seller wrote numbers with some ink pen. They should use pencil and a rubber band instead. Other than that, i like it!

It worked
Yes, it will most likely be folded. No, my piece did not have the spine. This is the first time re-heading a hand drum and I figured I'd give it a try. Works great. Used a 16" skin for a 12.5" djembe drum. All of the white spots on the head are stress from being folded for shipping. Most people know to just roll them and ship these in a tube. The little white dots are hair follicles, so no this isn't high quality stuff.Run under HOT water before you try to unfold and unroll your head (best way to prevent tearing). I let mine soak for maybe ~15 before threading on the drum.Oh and delivery was a bit slow. But this is way better than the big 5" tear in the old head!! Would have rather spent $15-20 extra to get a real quality skin but this is what Amazon had available under Prime and "highest rated" at this time.

good quality skin
needs to be soaked before working with it, but not long. i bought the 14" to repair a 10" djembe, a bit difficult, may want to give yourself more slack than that. very clean though, did not need to sand or remove any hair.

Works as advertised.
I had to rehead a 9-inch djembe. The rings were in okay shape. The skin soaked well. I then coated the bearing edge with shea butter, mounted the skin in the rings, and started weaving the loops. The next day, when the skin was dry, I tightened it down. It sounds great.

Fantastic
This dude was merely tough for me.to install over the banjo i have simply because its a over 100 year old banjo and my first time doin said task..got the entire skin wet and it softened to allow install..way easier once i did that..was fighting cusing until that wet application waa used

Great sound!
I'll start by telling you that I'm a total novice, and started out making a mistake. I soaked the skin for a good while, then realized I didn't have the third ring for the djembe! You'll be glad to know that letting it dry and resoaking it didn't hurt anything. Once I had everything I needed, I started over, and it worked beautifully. I'm so happy with the tone, and pretty proud that I did it myself.
