Nauticus Smart Tabs SX Series 10.5 X 12 f/21-25' Boats w/150-220 HP

This is my second set of these trim tabs. First were on my 17 1/2' Starcraft (sold) and this set was installed on my 21 1/2 walkaround cuddy fishing boat with a 150hp outboard. They work great to keep the bow down at low speed and feel very stable under way. They did gather quite a bit of barnacle growth (boat was slipped for the season) and I'm hoping it comes off with barnacle dissolver (barnacle "glue" gets left behind when barnacles are scraped off) and had quite a few mussels attached by hinges. Since they are plastic, however, there is no worry of corrosion and they are functioning perfectly after one season.

After 8 years, I finally bit the bullet and installed these on my Tahoe. I couldn't come to grips of drilling holes below the water line in my boat. I haven't had a chance to take the boat on the lake yet but all of the posts and testimonials, I know I won't be disappointed. Just a tip, after drilling the recommended 7/32" holes, you should follow that with a 1/4" hole just to remove the gel coat from around the hole and add an extra drop or two of marine adhesive. When I installed the screws for the mounting plates on my boat, I heard the gel coat crack from the pressure of driving in the screws. I'm afraid the cracks may migrate from the vibration of the engine.

Easy to install, and seem to be decent quality. Includes all the hardware and everything you need, minus some 5200.It took a couple sea trials to really get mine dialed in and take the list out, but I picked up 2-3 knots of top speed and it does seems to get on plane faster. I probably couldve gone up a size because of weight of my boat, but I'm pleased with them none-the-less. One of the better purchases I've made for my boat.

I bought a boat with equipped with a damaged hydrofoil and tried these out instead of replacing the hydrofoil. IMO they do a better job stabilizing the boat than a hydrofoil, but they don't offer the same flexibility for bow control. In other words they always push the bow down. With a hydrofoil you do have some options for tilt angle that may at times offer a slight advantage. All that said the only time I can think of the hydrofoil being an advantage is in rough water when you may want the bow UP. All in all I really like these 90% of the time they give the right effect.

I have a 19' Wellcraft bowrider that I use on the lower James River in VA. The tabs were easy to put on the boat, no complaints at all. It jumped on plane much faster than before and it can stay on plane at much lower speeds now. Turns felt a little different because you can feel the tab resisting the boats lean at lower speeds but at higher speeds it felt more stable and the boat didn't walk out on me at all. I trailer the boat each time and no issues with clearance when putting in or taking out. Overall, very pleased with the purchase.

Make sure you inventory the package. I delayed putting these on my boat about 6 months, but did attempt to this past weekend. Base plates went on just fine. Very easy. Went to attach the tabs to the plates and discovered 2 bolts and 1 nut were missing out of the package. Wouldn't be so bad if it was the SS screws or something I could get at the hardware store. But these are Nylon and got to be ordered from Nauticus. #screechinghalt

Straight forward install, just make sure you get a decent marine sealant. These work amazing! The bow drops way faster on acceleration even while towing a large 3 person tube. I will install these on every boat I own from now on!

Installed these on a LX2000/LS2000 Yamaha jet boat. They required me to mount them in a but further than recommended because of the scupper valve. But they made a HUGE difference in the ride of the boat. I cant imagine running without them now. Best ~150 bucks I spent on the boat. People can actually ride on the bow seats at speed now.
