Can I purchase an extra strap for the large pillow ?

Not sure if you can get a second or not, but the large pillow could really use two straps and I would get a second if they are available.

Is this a firm or soft pillow?

I would characterize the pillow as in between, meaning not uncomfortably firm and not uncomfortably soft. The pillow is filled with pieces of soft memory foam and it’s thick enough to have support and a consistent structure without feeling too hard or soft in my opinion. I prefer pillows that aren’t too firm or too soft and this pillow has worked well.
