Ancient North America, Fourth Edition

Pretty Basic, not much depth.
It wasn't that great of a text book, it lacks information and seems more appropriate for a lower level introductory course. For those who are interested in learning Archaeology but have no prior background, this might work for you, but don't plan on using it if you are going to teach an upper level North American archaeology course. In my professors defense, the school misordered this book for his class, and since all the students had already bought it, he decided to utilize it. It is entirely a basic overview and lacks depth to really get deep into the subject. However, the cover feels amazing, so I'll give it points on that. (I'm not joking, I don't have a book with a better feeling cover)

Lots of maps, drawings and photos
The book does a great job of showing how the people lived and moved around in the different time periods and areas to get along with the changes of the weather.

Brian Fagan writes in a form that is easy to understand and at the same time is very informative. This is a great resource for amateur archaeologists and other students of prehitory.

Required for school
I find this book difficult to read as time wise it jumps all over the place. Not only that, but the print is so small I am constantly having to pull out my magnifying glass to read areas, in particular the captions on the pictures.

Hard to follow
I have to have this textbook for a class I’m taking but I’m definitely not impressed. While the material itself is interesting, the way it’s organized is confusing and the wording often does nothing to help clarify. The author assumes a certain level of knowledge on the part of the reader but about obscure things such as ancient projectile point making techniques. All in all I think the information is good but the presentation is terrible.

Received on time and good quality
Quality was as expected, used but not overly damaged (some highlighting). The book arrived at the expected time and I have had no issues with it.
