This is one of the books required at our local junior college for their massage therapy program. It's an excellent program & produces top notch therapists, for those who work hard. Some of those in the program think being a massage therapist is going to be an easy occupation, and when they realize it's not, they whine & complain their way through the program (if they don't quit after realizing it's hard work), and their grades reflect it. I've had two students in the program. One student used the previous edition of this book & the most recent one is using this version. Both are honor students & have done an excellent job in the LMT program. One is a licensed massage therapist & the other will be one soon once they graduate. One of them is in medical school now & very grateful for all they learned via the Trail Guide books, for being a therapist, as well as a chiropractor. We WOULD purchase this book again (& the other Trail Guide books)!

Ruth has written a concise and well organized reference book. I had her first version from many years ago. I'm so glad I upgraded to this. She has accurate information about the different pathologies clients have and what kind of bodywork is appropriate. She also has a podcast "I have a Client Who...." for the more auditory learners. Great Reference Book!

Even if you’re not in this field, it won’t hurt you to know more about human diseases and take care of yourself, your family, relatives, and friends. I am grateful that my LPN instructor suggested this purchase: worth every penny for you can buy knowing in a book, just make sure you read it.
