Does it really work?
Unless you’re able to test the items before and after use we will not know if it actually is worth it…just using it in hopes it is doing it’s job is good enough for me. It’s small enough to travel with if you’d like but still too large for it to not be bulky in your purse/suitcase. I believe there was an even smaller option and I’d definitely go smaller if you intend to travel with it or even keep it in your car or something. I picked this size so I could have the option to put practically anything in my purse in there…keys, sunglasses, phone, etc.

Need to read instructions--not intuitive.
This appears to work very well, but you have to know a few things about it that some of the negative reviewers were not aware of:You CANNOT see UV light with a camera, so your phone will NOT be able to record the light while it is working.Second, you CANNOT have it plugged in and use it for sanitizing at the same time. The plug is ONLY for charging the battery. Once the battery is charged, you should unplug it and use it until the light on the side of the case begins to show red during use.The proper way to use this device is as follows:1) Charge it fully until the Homedics light on the button on the side is a solid GREEN2) Unzip the case and place your phone (or whatever) inside using the clips (for phone)3) Zip up the case and make SURE to connect the zipper tab to the magnetic spot on the back that is outlined in white4) Press the Homedics button ONCE to begin the cycle. It will flash blue until it is done.As for those claiming that it does not kill viruses or bacteria, I would suggest that if they can prove that, they would be able to sue for false advertising. The site is VERY clear that it kills 99% of bacteria and viruses at the DNA level. They will provide you with a strip to show that the cycle works--some reviewers have reported no effect using something other than what the company provides and may therefore be using the wrong kind of product to test the company's claims. Again, if you can prove that it does not work, you have a case against the company, but I am deeply skeptical that they are lying about killing 99% of viruses and bacteria at the DNA level.Once we learned how to use it correctly, we've been very happy with the product. Would give it 5 stars if it were more intuitive or worked while being charged, but that is minor.

Components Hidden and Poor Instructions
The media could not be loaded. I just received my item and had a hard time figuring out how to use it. The clips are hidden under the tray on bottom. The cord receptacle is in a hidden compartment! No instruction or notifications of this! I bought two, this grey one and a black one that luckily had better instructions. Good price, spacious and nice design.

Yes, light DOES come on and yes, it disinfects
I've had this device for 2 years now and use it daily, for everything from my phone, to face mask, to my night-time mouthguard. I've read where some people had put their phone into the device, to see if there was a light; funnily enough, I had initially done that, too ... and YES, the bright light was definitely on. So if the negative reviewers were telling the truth AND the device was charged and indicated it was functioning, then they must have has a broken device and should have exchanged it. One way I know my device does kill at least bacteria (and therefore, probably many/most viruses) is that my night-time mouth guard is now constantly odor-free: I rinse it with water when I take it out of my mouth each morning, then pop it into this device ... and there is NO ODOR any more. If you've ever worn a retainer or mouth-guard, you know that it's a challenge to keep them free of odor-causing bacteria ... I no longer have to scrub or soak my mouthpiece to thoroughly disinfect it. So I know my device functions and I recommend that you get this device, charge it, start your phone video, put the phone in, ensure the zipper is correctly closed, run it and check the video. If the video shows there's a bright light, you're good to go. If not, exchange your device and try it again.

Ok,I hope
I just received mine. Seems to be very nice. Unfortunately, it was just a little smaller than I wanted. Really wanted to be able to place my whole electric toothbrush in it as the toothbrush sanitizers keep breaking. 2nd issue is I don't know if it's really working. With my toothbrush sanitizers I at least can see a light on through a little window, that's how I know that 2 of them now have just stopped working.. no light anymore. So I wish it had a window in it just a big enough one so you can tell when the lights go out And you would need to replace the unit. It doesn't come with any kind of card you cannot test it either. Other than not knowing if it works the bag itself seems like it's OK. It would be awesome if you could see it worked, would rate higher.

Has the effectiveness of this been independently verified?
So expensive and you just have to trust that with each use, it is infact completely sanitising what you put in there. That is impossible to know, so faith is needed!Aside from that, why oh why is the exterior fabric? Who or what will sanitise the sanitiser bag and strictly speaking by the time you touch the dirty outer case to remove the item it is then contaminated again. I use this at work and it has got very grubby very quick, so not really happy about that at all.

Perfect for night guards
I was sceptical, and now 9 months later I am convinced. This is absolutely ideal for a night guard. I getting my teeth and the silicon night guard was difficult to keep clean. I scrubbed and dunked in steriliser but still it would get funky. No longer. Just 1 blast of a couple of minutes stood on its side and not a whiff of bacteria all through winter. It's brilliant. Simple and easy to use, easy to charge, highly recommended.

WEAK! The UVC is very weak compared to other cheaper products.
This is useless, it only stays on for a very short time (about 30 seconds) and in that time it delivers a lot less UVC than my other devices would in the same time.First photo from this device after 30 seconds.Second photo from another device after 30 seconds. As you can see this one delivers much less UVC than other similar products. You can actually smell the VOCs from the UVC when using other products, which you can't smell at all when using this one, so it's not delivering enough energy to have the same level of sanitisation.I used to like this brand until I bough this. It's a useless product, don't waste your money.

It works!
I bought this uv sanitiser, as my fitness watch with a fabric strap regularly smells like mould and it really bugged me. Saw this product and thought that it would be the perfect test to see if the uv killed the fungus/bacteria. The test being if the smell went, then it must work. I tried it out and now my strap doesn't not smell of mould anymore, so it obviously works. I will be using this for all my things I want clean with out getting them wet. Am very impressed. Can see me using this regularly!
