The Christmas Party

Fantastic "new to me" Author
Well, if you're going to turn up late to a party then it's got to be a party worth turning up late for...right? That's exactly how I feel about my first ever Karen Swan.I've lurked on the sidelines for a while now debating whether to pick up a Karen Swan, not quite sure if they would be for me or not. If like me you've done the same then this is your sign to pick one up. I'll definitely be adding more to my shelves. The Christmas Party is a heartfelt story that swept me away to the rugged coast of Ireland in Winter, where we meet the Lorne family who are dealing with a great loss. I was immersed straight away into the lives of sisters Pip, Ottie and Willow as they embarked on a journey to confront the past, repair broken relationships, take chances, embrace the future and start accepting the things they cannot change. The writing was eloquent and beautifully written. The characters are troubled, vulnerable and genuine and the story is one of loss, grief, love, forgiveness, friendship, community, family drama and romance. This was an absorbing read that I'm so glad I added to my December reads and one that reminded me to live life to the fullest and to surround myself with people that I love

A Truly Happy Book
I'm not a "happy ending' sort of person, well not when I'm reading a book, but, even though I guessed the ending, everything being tied up nicely at the end, I absolutely loved this book! I loved the girls, their characters, loved the boys, and loved the stories each character brought to the story, and I'm glad it tied up nicely at the end!

Christmas Tradition
It has became a tradition to read Karen's Christmas books.I love all of Karen's books as you get drawn in totally into the setting. This time in a castle in Ireland. As there are 3 daughters, Ottie, Pip and Willow, I really felt like I was getting 3 stories in one.Good storytelling and lovely characters.Looking forward to the next one.

Slow start but worth a read
When I first started reading this book i found it very hard going. Far too much description which made me want to skip pages. I'm glad I stuck with it though as I was enjoying it by the end. A bit predictable but a nice story

A Lovely Setting
I liked the idea of a Christmas romance and this book delivered. Although very predictable and no real surprises a nice easy read.
