I use my Korg NanoKontrol2 for more than just music production. I am able to use it when mixing in FL Studio, Serato DJ to macro FX and toggle samples and have found use as a stream deck to toggle scenes and trigger sound alerts when streaming through OBS. I did have a problem with a driver and Windows registry that needed a little adjusting but got it up and running with help from watching a YouTube video on how to correct the problem. Korg really made a great product with many uses beyond music production. And if you look elsewhere to find this item you will see Amazon is the place to shop!

I was an early adopter of the 1st generation Korg Nano series controllers and am glad they improved certain things for the 2nd gen. I actually like the white (the cheaper version available) because it matches some of the gear I use nearby. These controllers are not renowned for their durability...I fully expect the knobs/fader caps to become loose eventually. At the moment, everything feels very solid and not too jiggly so it may be years down the road before that happens. The ease of use is super easy, barely an inconvenience. The plug-n-play nature combined with Korg's software editor is a natural choice for the video software I am using the controller with. The size is perfect for portability, I need to maximize real estate as much as possible and this thing delivers comfortable access to basic controls in the smallest footprint.

IF YOU'RE USING CUBASE AND IT KEEPS RESETTING, DO NOT RETURN IT. These device is not defective, Steinberg's engineers are. There is a fix. You need to go into the midi device manager and disable the scripts for the NanoKontrol2. This is a Steinberg/Cubase issue and not a Korg issue. The device works just fine. When you disable the scripts, the NanoKontrol2 goes back to working like a normal MIDI controller. If you google how to disable midi controller scripts, you'll find the solution easily. I don't think Amazon will let me post a link.

I had a Prosonus single Faderport. Worked great. However, when I upgraded my protools to the newest version, it wouldn't communicate anymore. I looked at the latest version of Faderport and was put off by the price AND the fact that a lot of the features on that unit didn't work with protools now. Saw this little bugger and thought I'd give it a try. It's no long throw Faderport, but it arms, chooses, pans, mutes, and solos tracks. It also plays, stops, and rewinds. A lot for a tiny unit. Was going to return it but decided it did enough to keep it.

Hi, recently bought this little mixer with extra controls and transport. It’s different way to work and has spend up my mixing process, I will say if don’t mix like this, give it a try, you will appreciate the tactical way of working as you would if you where working in a professional studio. If you plan on working in professional audio this would be the same approach so the only thing you would gain is knowing how to drive any mixer in any giving situation. It would be better to have a motorize fader controller but for now this will get the job done easier than a mouse and keyboard, in the sense you focus more on your ears instead of click and dragging the faders. PS you will always have to use a mouse and keyboard while working, this is just another way to work. I would see if you can get a refund or return before purchasing, give it a chance of your interested in this kind of work flow, if not you probably don’t need this. That’s my two cents.

I use Cubase Elements 8.0 as my DAW, and before purchasing the nanoKontrol, I used only a mouse to control mixing and MIDI controller functions. Setting up the nanoK was actually very straightforward; based on things I'd seen in other reviews here and on forums I was expecting it to be a hassle, but the instructions included with the device worked perfectly. At least, the instructions work for controlling AUDIO tracks this way. Controlling MIDI functions may take additional experimentation and research. There are only 8 tracks of sliders/knobs on the device, but buttons let you easily jump from controlling tracks 1-8 on Cubase to controlling tracks 9-16, etc. One issue I ran into is that, while it is very possible to use the nanoK to control MIDI data like modulation, expression, or any other CC data you want, you can't easily do this when the device is configured to control audio tracks. You need to unplug it, plug back in while holding certain buttons down, and then it's configured more like a MIDI CC controller. Even then you will probably need to do additional tweaking in your DAW. In any case, using the nanoK's sliders and knobs to control volume and pan functions is SO, SO preferable to using a mouse. For that alone, if you've been suffering with a mouse for years like I have, is worth the price of this item. That being said, the build quality is very cheap. The rubbery buttons can sometimes stick down at the corners, so you have to pry them up again. The sliders (obviously not motorized at this price point) have too much "play" in directions other than up/down (they hold firm on that axis at least). The slider grips are kind of loose and wiggly. The knobs are more sturdy, but still made of light plastic. It works fine and probably won't break right away or anything, but still feels like a cheap toy, ultimately. One other sore point, in Cubase, at least, the volume slider changes track volume in the software at increments of 0.2db. This is sufficient as a starting point, but I found myself manually adjusting things further after taking some passes with the nanoK. I find that sometimes smaller changes, even of 0.1db or less can matter a lot -- it's not that this is a large change in itself, but when there are effects on a track and it's in a mix interacting with other tracks, there can be certain thresholds where the track sounds audibly different from, say, -5.6db to -5.55db. For that reason, I wish the nanoK worked at a finer resolution. The pan knob seems to work in the smallest possible increment (ie you can use the knob to pan from L34 to L35). I didn't end up using the play/record/mute/solo buttons on the nanoK very much; for whatever reason I still found it more efficient to use the mouse. But I DID use the rewind button a lot, which was faster than using my mouse or keyboard shortcuts. So, to summarize, if you can't afford a more serious mix controller but you're sick and tired of using a mouse for everything, this is an acceptable option that will ease a lot of that burden. Even so, you get what you pay for, and it does feel too much like a lightweight, cheap toy. But for me, it's a lot better than nothing, for now.

Got the white one out of semi-necessity: Incredibly glad I went with this fader/controller - it cleaned up my entrances/exits nicely The price is absolutely fair (at least when I bought it), and it feels more durable than I was expecting. There's a good weight to it, and the size is nice and portable. The backlights are surprisingly helpful as well. It does not feel like a cheap piece of plastic. My only complaint is that the silicon buttons, especially the play and stop buttons, get caught occasionally, which just warrants a second press. They are the weakest quality of this fader. I was recommended this fader by industry professionals in NYC as a portable, durable, and efficient piece to add to your collection, and it is exactly that. Price is good (wait for it to go on sale - check the price history with your Honey add-on).

Ik gebruik hem voornamelijk voor de verschillende audio kanalen te besturen van mijn Desktop. Hier is deze zeker geschikt voor. Snelle handelingen in samenwerking met Voicemeter Potato werken goed.

Ich benutze den Korg NanoKONTROL2 hauptsächlich für die Produktion von Hardtekk – und bin wirklich zufrieden. Das Teil ist super kompakt, passt auf jeden Schreibtisch und ist trotzdem voll funktional. Die Fader und Drehregler reagieren sehr präzise – genau das, was man braucht, wenn man z. B. Kick-Lautstärke, FX oder Automationen in Echtzeit anpassen will. Ich hab mir z. B. den Master, Kick-Bus, FX-Sends usw. auf die Fader gelegt – läuft absolut sauber. Das Teil ist Plug-and-Play, funktioniert direkt mit Ableton Live (nach kurzem Setup) und lässt sich easy mappen. Besonders cool: Die Transporttasten (Play, Stop, Record etc.) machen Live-Jams oder Aufnahmen viel entspannter. Verarbeitung ist stabil genug, um auch mal mit in den Rucksack zu kommen – ideal für unterwegs oder Gigs im Studio anderer Leute. Kurz gesagt: Für den Preis gibt’s kaum etwas Besseres, wenn man einen kompakten, zuverlässigen MIDI-Controller sucht. Absolute Empfehlung – gerade für elektronische Musikrichtungen wie Hardtekk oder Techno!

Genial controlador. Excelente para cualquier tipo de música, especialmente orquestal y usarlo con Kontakt es brutal. El aparato llegó en perfectas condiciones. Bien envuelto. Fácil de conectar. No precisa instalación , al menos en Mac , y con Logic Pro x lo detecta de inmediato. Acierto total , muy recomendable. No ocupa espacio.

For the price, this works great as a MIDI expression controller - e.g. to add a bit of life into VSTi performances. The bad news: the faders are a bit small - could be fiddly if you have big hands / fingers. But: other than that, its all good news. Because the unit is small and low-profile, its easy to place in a comfy location. I used the freely available Korg Kontrol Editor software to set which MIDI CC controllers are assigned to each fader and also set the buttons to switch between articulations. Great controller unit at a great price!
