works well
i turned and old dell 1720 into a car computer tool by putting in a hard drive with windows 10. it was slow and was very frustrating. i replace the ram and was still slow compared to a new computer but was improved enough to work fast enough to be ok. it make my old computer very usable, a noticable improvement. i would recommend.

Even a Novice can replace RAM!
Hello I purchased this model for my Dell Inspiron 1525 about two years ago. I am just getting around to replacing my RAM however, despite the ease of trying to replace it, the slit portion of the card is on the bottom and my org RAM has the slot/slit on the top. I am unable to fit your card into the slot. I know its too late for a refund but I want to know if there is a way that I can still use what I purchased from you or did I being a novice, buy the wrong RAM. My org RAM says DIMM 1 and DIMM 2. I think I can have two DIMM2 and I thought I was buying that but named differently because of the upgrade. Can you advise me please. Thank youFollowup to last messg. I figured it out! and after two years, it works!!! yeah. So, the issue was the label. I thought the label displaying the Ram name and other info meant it was supposed to be displayed on top. I thought about it and decided to reopen my puter to compare each side. I thought the backside of the label was touching & connecting to something. I noticed it didnt matter if the label was turned down thus placing the slit/slot into the RAM compartment. I did get a messg during start up that advised me of new RAM and told me to F1/F2 and F5. I was stuck but then I chose F2 -setup but then the puter went into hibernation mode. Feeling lost again, I almost removed the new RAM. I removed the battery then reinserted it. I turned on my pc and after a long boot-up...ITS FASTER and back to normal. Its reading my 4GB of RAM and I don't see anymore issues. Its early but so far so good. I said all this cause I had to tell somebody about my great achievement! LOL..Im so happy. Thx for your time. I'll post this as a good review for you guys. Thx again for reading!! oh BTW any suggestions or comments about what I went thru? Were those 'errors' I encountered or just normal? Was I supposed to do something else??

Good Alternative for Memory
I wanted to upgrade the memory in my Inspiron 1525 from 2 GB to 4 GB. The cost for 4 GB of this memory, with expedited shipping, was less than the cost of 2 GB from Dell. I received the shipment on the timeline promised but one of the two modules received was defective. The seller was very responsive when contacted and as soon as I provided a shipping number for the return the seller put a replacement in the mail. I installed upon receiving and the new memory worked great. This product is a great low cost alternative for upgrading the memory in a Inspiron 1525. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because I received a defective module. I didn't go lower than 4 stars because the seller was very responsive in getting the issue resolved.

like getting a new laptop
At a computer tuning class I went to years ago the last thing the instructor said was: better than fiddling with all these tuning parameters is to buy more memory; nothing can improve performance like having more memory. When my laptop started bogging down and the fan running constantly I knew it was time. After watching an on-line video about installing memory in a laptop, I did the installation, and it booted up fine, with a BIOS message saying I had more memory. I was running an old 32-bit Linux, so it only recognized 3.5 GB, but the same number of open windows ran just fine, with ample free memory. (Later I switched to a 64-bit Linux, and the entire 4 GB were found.) I did run MemTest86+ against the new memory, and I was distressed to see 8 error messages almost immediately; however that was also an old version, and using the latest release reported no errors after 4.5 hours or testing. It was a good thing to do.

Works well on a Dell Inspiron 1520
It is a quick change for the Dell Inspiron 1520. One chip is under the keyboard and one memory chip is under the computer. I do recommend you watch the YouTube "how to do" videos so that you are familiar with the computer. Go slow and don' force. The keyboard has two screws under the top cover above the keyboard. Both the cover and the keyboard needs to be eased out. The memory chip lies under a cover that is well marked. The other cover is underneath easily accessed by one screw.I did it in less than 10 minutes but you may need longer if this is the first time changing memory.First time I turned it on there was a loud beep saying my memory had changed. I just hit continue.

Speeds up the opening, closing and use of apps ...
Speeds up the opening, closing and use of apps on my mom's Dell Inspiron 1521with Windows Vista. The boot time is still the same. But once fully booted, the laptop works significantly quicker. Make sure to update the bios so it can handle the RAM. Also be aware that 4 gigs of RAM is the max for Dell Inspiron 1521. Watched a couple of Youtube clips on how to install and it took me barely 5 minutes to complete the switchout from old to new RAM cards. Other reviewers stated that without Windows 7 64 bit, the system only recognizes and uses 3 gigs...but still way faster than the 1 gig of RAM that came with it out of the factory! You need 1 gig just to run Vista, so don't know what Dell was thinking. At original specs the thing was a turtle.

4 GB will not work in my 1720
I am running Windows 7 32 bit Home Premium version on my Dell 1720 inspiron. When I removed the 2 1GB original memory and replaced with the 2 2GB memory cards andpowered on my inspiron, I only got one light on the keyboard flashing. Reseated the cards several times with the same result, so I put the original memoryback into the laptop to check on the internet and see if there were reported problems. Everything I read said 32 bit OS could only use 3 to 3.5 gig of memory, so Ishut down and installed one of the 2 gig memory cards in slot A, powered up the laptop and it recognized that I now had 3 gig of memory. My disappointment is thatI purchased twice as much memory as I needed therefore spent twice as much as needed. Since I have already spent the money, I will probably install windows 64 bitOS and use the other memory card, but if I had know it could not use all 4 gig on 32 bit, I would not have purched 4 gig, I would have only purchased 2 gig.
