Did not purchase for hard boiled eggs! I talk every morning with a Ham Radio group. The system has a 3 minute timer to talk without a break. Some members talk to much and time out the system. Then we have to wait for it to reset. It is very easy for 3 minutes to pass by when ones turn. I have timed out the system a couple times myself. My radio has a programmable timer set at 3 minutes. At that time, it will stop transmitting. However, 3 minutes times out the main transmitter. I needed something for when my turn that does not transmit a noise like a kitchen digital timer. Thought, aha...A 3 minute egg timer to the rescue! Works like a charm, I can start talking while watching the sand. When it gets near 3/4 in bottom, I know I have 30 seconds left. This allows me to end my turn without hitting 3min mark! I told the other Hams that I am using a "chicken timer". They could not figure out the meaning until I said 3 min egg timer from Amazon. I ordered 3 of these Norco Brand timers. Tested each one against cell phone clock with second hand. 2 are exactly 3 minutes, and last one is 3min 5 seconds, close enough to perfect. Great price and now I have egg timers in each room where there is a Ham Radio.

A perfect low-tech timer for any kitchen. No bells or whistles (literally). Plenty of functionality and style though. Adds a very nostalgic touch to your cooking chores.

The time is really nice. High quality I would say. However when we actually timed the timer it took 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

I have been raising boy's for 19 years now, and I have been using 3 minute timers for almost 16 of them as a tooth brushing timer. Because all of my boy's love to brush for 30 seconds, run out of the bathroom, and declare the job done! And I have been through all kinds of timers! Twist ones, hopping ones, loud ones, quiet ones, solar ones, battery/ plug in ones... You get the picture. Well when you throw a boy into the bathroom with tooth paste, and water you are going to burn through some timers! Believe Me! BUT a no nonsense 3 minute sand timer is nearly perfect for use! I have to say nearly because just when you think you've seen it all kids find a new way to surprise you! Lol! However I really like this timer because the smaller size means there is not a large exposed glass surface, and there's no problem with it taking up space! I will be buying another of these should it "Disappear" with that mysterious kid "Not Me". ** I DO RECOMMEND for any 3 minute time jobs you have, and want a nice looking no frills timer for them. It has also been easy to clean partially due to the light finish it has on it. **P.s. I randomly check to be sure the timer is still accurate (don't forget I have boy's + that mystery kid), and it is still keeping 3 minutes time almost a year later.
