Best Of

This album is a great introduction to a great singer who is often compared to Celine Dion. I even saw an article recently written by Lara about the comparison to Celine. Well it's inevitable once you hear her voice. I only found out recently that both took part in the 1988 Eurovision song contest, guess who won?Lara is very similar to Celine in many ways, but I do think Celine does English songs better than Lara, her pronunciation can be strange at times. The vast majority of her hits are here from 'Tout' and 'Je t'aime' up to 2009. Check out her version of 'Broken vow' it's even better than Josh Groban's.The hits may have stopped now but she still produces good albums, check out her latest 'Le secret' which went to number 1 in France earlier this year.This album is great value with 30 tracks and is full of great music in both French & English, and I now own quite a lot more of her music after buying this album!

I hadn't heard of this singer till my beautician had a cd of her on during my last visit. I opted for best of as it gave me an excellent 30 tracks for a good price. If you like Celine Dion you should like Lara Fabian.

The description of the product didn't inform that the discs wouldn't come in a traditional double CD case.The CDs came in a "card paper/envelope-like" case.I found it very poor, considering it's a "Best of" edition, I was expecting something in the normal models, using the normal case, or something more special.I didn't return this item because: 1st the songs are great, 2nd I live in Brazil, and this album wasn't released here.

I have probably never bought a CD (actually, 2 CDs) with so many excellent songs. For some, these songs may be too sentimental, but I love them, and try to learn French while I listen. Fantastic CDs, but the CD jacket was of poor quality.

Receved within 2 days of ordering....very impressive service!Could not submit initially because you required another twelve word?This part of submission should be dropped on all future reviews otherwise I will not bother!

As good as ever

This has been reviewed as 1 star by someone and said to be just a re-release of the 2 albums, 'Lara Fabian' and 'Nue', which is complete rubbish. In fact, of the 30 tracks, just 6 come from those two albums, at the most 7 as there is also one which is on another album. Two of the tracks are totally new to this album and, from my count, 5 tracks come from her very successful album 'Tout', 4 from 'Carpe Diem' and there are also tracks from at least 5 other albums. "Best ofs" are supposed to be compilations of songs from a number of albums and that's what this is. I will admit to not owning this album as I have many of her others and, therefore, nearly every track on this double CD. However, for someone wanting just a "Best of", the selection of tracks is pretty good and includes many of what I would regard as her best songs. If the listing agreed completely with what I would put on a 'Best of' album, I would give it 5 stars as I've seen her live several times, she has a fantastic voice and some excellent songs, whether you speak French or not.
