Not a good choice for maple syrup filtering. All my finished (filtered) syrup is absolutely full of niter.

I use inside a debris filter for my swimming pool
I use them in my leaf/debris filter. They work extremely will for removing fine particles from the water and pet hair before the sand filter. I use one filter a week. Take it out, hose it off, and when I have a couple, I throw them in the washing machine. Water is crystal clear.
