My favorite water bottle!
I bought my first one 10 years ago and it lasted through 5 years of daily abuse. I tend to drop it frequently. It's fallen off my car roof once, it fell off my second story landing to the wood floor below, I've taken it hiking, shopping, daily working as a house cleaner. Its durable. I've been using my current bottle for about 4 years and I'm shopping for my next one. Contigo stopped selling this Ashland model in the stores in my area a few years ago, so I was glad to find it again here on Amazon. The lid loop clip is perfect for snapping onto my purse strap so I can be hands free when needed.Easy to clean, no hard to snap in or pry out parts. I recommend hand washing and air drying to help the rubber pieces last longer. If you see faces in things like I do, you may see an angry person every time you take a sip. His name is Tigo and he's not actually upset, just concerned about your hydration. Picture included for reference. The grippy rubber bit around the lid base is my humble hero. 24 oz of sweaty ice tea is slick to hold but check out my picture of how I hold it. It's awesome! And there's a little rise underneath the release button that works to protect the release from accidental contact and as a thumb support when holding a full bottle. It's the little things that make this my go-to choice in water bottles.

Great bottle for everyday use
I'd seen these on QVC a few times, and they always looked pretty nice. But, I have quite the collection of water bottles and the last thing I needed was another one. So, I did what any normal person would do - waited a few months and impulsively bought one from Amazon one day. :)It's quite a nice bottle. I like that you don't have to leave the straw / spout exposed to office germs when you're not drinking. Just click the button to drink and pop it back down when you're done. There is a lock feature on the spout, which is nice if you were to toss the bottle in a bag and didn't want to accidentally pop it open. Although, I wouldn't totally recommend that, because I've noticed that it does seem to leak from time to time (like, if I put a flavoring in the bottle and shake it up - sometimes it spits out water). I like that the straw is nice and long, so you can get down to ALMOST the bottom of the bottle when you sip. There is usually 1/4 inch of liquid that I can't seem to get out with the straw, so I just sip it out while I have the lid off to refill.I also really like the way it comes apart to put it in the dishwasher. I've had some pretty nice water bottles and just never felt like I could get them REALLY clean. The straw screws off of the lid, so you can put the lid, straw and bottle all in the dishwasher. They seem to come nice and clean that way. If it didn't leak at all, it would be perfect. But, as-is, I really can't complain. I was thinking of buying another one to rotate on and off when this one is in the wash. I'd definitely recommend it!

My favorite Contigo bottles!
These old style Ashland Contigo water bottles have the solid colored hard plastic straw which screws into the bottom part of the lid. I am really sad Contigo does not make this style of water bottles any more. Their newest Ashland bottle has a more cylindrical shape and the straw is one clear piece of plastic which just sticks up into the underside of the lid. I had to replace the new Ashland water bottle because the silicone bendy part of the straw (that bends at 90 degrees within the lid to make the bottle leak-proof) got a bend stress crack and hole exactly where the silicone bends. This is very disappointing! We've had our old Ashland Contingo water bottles for years and they wash up well in the dishwasher and still work beautifully!I recently tried to buy more of these old-style Contigo Ashland bottles but the only ones I could find were from over seas and priced between $40 and $50. I really don't like when dependable products are discontinued or are cost prohibitive.Contigo, please make the old style Ashland water bottles again!!

it spits and it spouts
I bought my first one of these at a Target during my summer travels. When I got home, and since I'd left my first one at family's house, I ordered a package of three of these bottles. I've learned that when you depress the button to open the spout, the mouthpiece will "spit" a few drops of water in the direction the spout opens. That's easy to manage. Just open it in another direction (or person LOL). The disturbing behavior, however, is that one of the bottles has a tendency to throw out a larger amount of water, like between 1 and 2 fluid ounces! This is not as manageable. There's no warning, and it can fully soak any paper it lands on, it's that much. I've written to Contigo and hope to receive a replacement lid or bottle. The one explanation I looked for was this: Does it throw more water from the folded spout area because it's warmed up and been pushed up the straw? I truly don't know, but maybe Contigo needs to do some more research and development, experimenting with various conditions. Meanwhile, I still REALLY like the function and design of this water bottle, better than any I've ever used before. To another customer, yes, it does make a sound when I release the suction from the straw, so I've learned to release the pressure before releasing the mouthpiece. That seems to help.
