Thinning parts of my horse’s mane is so easy!
I own 2 Haflinger horses and this breed has a mane gene to die for! They have a mane on both sides of their neck and the mane is thick. We live in central Texas and I own Wagon Rides of Bandera. In the very hot humid summer I do braid their manes but the rest of the year it os nice to thin the thick parts of their manes to create a beautiful, even mane. Just a few swipes of this tool and TaDa! Job completed. I recommend this tool to anyone.

Works!
My horses hate having their manes pulled. I get tired of fighting with them and have resorted to thinning and shortening the manes with scissors and thinning shears. I thought I'd try this - and it works really well. The horses don't mind the raking and it pulls the hair evenly and smoothly. My only gripe is that the rubber handle slips down, but it's easily pushed back into place.

Best purchase ever
I have a Chow/Lab. This is the best brush ever! I have been able to get SOOOOOOO much hair off of her! It has really helped cut down in my sweeping in the house because so much of her hair comes off with each brushing!

Breaks the hair
I bought this to thin my horses' mane to make it easier for button braids for our Morgan shows so I didn't have to pull her mane. It only breaks the hair, making the button braids very messy looking with all of the broken ends sticking out everywhere. If your purpose is to thin out for button braiding, don't do it! It also took forever to arrive.

Great grooming tool
Awesome grooming brush for removing undercoat. Better than furminator!

Very effective
This is a useful tool for the grooming kit if like me, you have a horse/pony with an incredibly thick mane/tail who is disinclined to stand for long enough for you to make any impact through pulling etc.!(You can also use this tool on other animals, such as dogs - I tested it out on my dog to begin with, and it seemed quite effective at removing the undercoat which otherwise ends up all over the furniture). You simply make sure the mane/tail is brushed through and free from tangles, then drag the rake down through the hair. There are two sets of teeth on the rake - on one side they are set more widely apart, which is good for particularly thick hair; on the other side the teeth are closer together which good for maintenance/thinner hair. The rake is nice to hold with a grippy handle, and is light so you won't get fatigued if you have to use for a while. It didn't take me long at all to thin an extremely thick mane on a native-type horse.
