Great art is controversial and sometimes disturbing
I really love this comprehensive look at Wangenheim's work. Stunning. I am not a prude by an means, but do be aware that there are a few ( not many ) images that you might not want younger viewers to see. Art is subjective and others may not have a problem with it.

A Fantastic Retrospec!!!!!
One of the most influential photographers to ever live....Chris Von Wangenheim photgraphs finally get the book they deserve,One of my favorite photographers, as a child, early teen, I was mesmerized by his photographs. He has influenced so many designers such as Tom Ford and back in the day- the motion picture film- The Eyes of Laura Mars- I had wondered why no one ever focused in on him and gave this beautiful retrospec earlier. The book is beautiful, I only wish I was invited to the Marc Jacobs Gloss book release party held during NYFW this past September. I heard the party was fantastic.

GLOSS is terrific and only a few images are "dated" by the ...
Over 30 years ago I was awaiting delivery of a C-print I'd ordered from von Wangenheim and anxiously awaiting the publication of his book "Women Alone" when I read his obituary in the New York Times. GLOSS is terrific and only a few images are "dated" by the shape of the heels or the cut of the clothes. My only disappointment is that the print I had ordered is not included so I must continue to keep track of my old Viva Magazine. In short, a really long wait and worth it.

Five Stars- Von Wagenheim was a Genius!
Beautifully done. Truly a must for those of us obsessed with the decadence of the 70's and early 80's.A excellent coffee table book, although if you are not used to art/ fashion books the nudity may be shocking-I had a guest flip through it with eyes as big as saucers ;)Von Wagenheim was a true genius and was taken much too soon.

Hit or miss
I sent this back. The cover was ripped and had a sticky unidentifiable goo on it. That aside, this book is quite dark and even disturbing in its themes. If you're a fan of cvw you know that and this book will make you happy. If you're buying for the love of fashion, editorials or because you dig all things 70's you should know there are many not suitable for viewing images which I'd hide from my coffee table before anyone underage came over.

Poorly researched.
While I love the work of this photographer and admire his work I feel he has been done a disservice by the authors as I have spotted a photo in here that's the work of Helmut Newton (that was featured in Newtons 1975 White Women book). Wangenheims work looks very much like the work of Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin so this stupid error brings into question how much of this book has been credited properly.Hopefully it's just the one slip (the girl being hosed down in the blue tiled shower) but who knows?
