The Killers might hail from one of the USA's most quintessentially American cities (Las Vegas), but their debut album Hot Fuss displays an Anglophilic streak that is an ocean wide. Steeped in the back-catalogue of the Smiths and Pulp, with broad 80s synth sweeps cloaking each tale of fraught metrosexual romance, this band clearly rate the swoon over the swagger. Still, this is almost entirely an upbeat record, one made for the packed club than the smoky VIP room; in particular "On Top", "Somebody Told Me" and "Mr Brightside" are tremendous examples of breathless indie-pop that gallop along like a lovestuck heartbeat with frontman Brandon Flowers gasping for breath on the claustrophobic disco floor. This is, inarguably, what the Killers do best. Fantastic album you can listen time and time again

One of the greatest albums of all time
One of the greatest albums of all time! Only listened to it for the first time recently and now I listen at least twice a week! You put it on and then have to repeat it's that good. At first, the singles being at the start of the album are so great that the others seem a little bit underwhelming, but now I actually appreciate these other album tracks more, and they're very good songs. Amazing debut album!

It came earlier then expected, but the only problem I had was there is a crack in the front of the case, not a massive deal, still worth the amazing price tag in-front of it, because for the life of me I can’t find this album anywhere in Canada on CD.

Worth buying just for "mr Brightside"
Kicks off strong with "Jenny was a friend of mine", then of course there's "Somebody told me", which is totally driving and amazing, and "Believe me Natalie", and "Midnight Show". Almost a pity, that a good album is completely outshone by that one song, "Mr Brightside". What else would I, or could I say? One of the great songs of all time; an anthem for anyone who has ever been hurt. That classic riff during the line leading to the chorus "'cos I just can't look - it's killing me". An emotional overload in CD format. And probably the most British song ever made by a non-British band.
