As True and Personal as It Gets
One of the best, if not the best, leadership books/manuals I have ever read. Jocko Wilink hit the jackpot with outlying almost every possible leadership scenario imaginable and how to address problems, come up with solutions, and most importantly, exercise ownership. It took me almost three years to finish reading this book because I had to pause and digest all the relevant and specific details that applied to me. I strongly recommend this book to anyone in any field, especially those in management and leadership positions. While Jocko has a lot of military experience, his continued corporate experience through his own consulting firm and other ventures continues to grow and substantially add to his leadership knowledge portfolio. Thereby, as he writes more, the credibility of its applicability to reach a wide range of diverse audiences will also grow. I have even bought several copies for others I have had the opportunity to work with within the international arena to help them out. Jocko also dedicates two podcast episodes to explaining the concepts and fundamentals in this book (Episodes 210 & 211). After reading this book, one has no excuse not to succeed or at least exceed their current level of performance.

Practical Leadership Advice That Addresses Nuances at All Levels
Willink does a phenomenal job stating practical strategies and tactics for leaders at all levels but isn’t afraid to dive into the nuance of multiple applications and situations. He rightly addresses when you can take the tactic too far and to pull back and when a tactic simply won’t work and why. I really appreciated the perspective.
