PVC- 4 way L/T 2" (Furniture Grade White)

The 4 Way tee is a GREAT item for constructing various projects from standard Schedule 40 PVC pipe. This form of connector provides a simple method to join PVC pipe from 4 directions at once. Typical applications would be in the corner of a rectangular project where vertical and horizontal joinery is needed at a single point. I have used these kinds of connectors extensively to build such things as a garden tool caddy, a bicycle rack, garage organizer shelf unit, mobile cart for container gardening and even a 400 Watt Solar Generator (using their 5 Way Tee's). I found 4 (and 5) way tee's available in a variety of sizes but the 2" version of these key connectors are not too easy to find yet the 2" version (due to superior thickness and size) facilitates the construction of some pretty robust projects. See my photo of the solar generator panel array nearing completion which is made entirely of 2" PVC using various corner fittings including two 5-way tee's. Check the picture and take special note as to how I used the 4-way for mounting wheels (which I used on all the above projects). A 98 cent end cap from home depot and a 4" diameter stem wheel with a 1" stud does the job for wheels.Improvements I would like to see include: 1) If I had a magic wand all PVC corner connectors like these should be made more readily available through 2" version from suppliers ... i.e. one stop shop for all sizes of key connectors. I currently have to order the 2" size separately because not all suppliers carry all sizes. 2) An industry standard should be established and used to provide for a standard inset dimension from the outside edge of a fitting's opening to the point where the PVC Pipe is fully seated within the connector. This dimension currently varies depending on the supplier. The "So What Factor" is that the inconsistency requires VERY careful attention depth gage measurement and adjusting when cutting the pipe to length ... more specifically each fitting must be measured to verify its dimension and thus its impact on the overall finished dimension of the project.In terms of fitness for use: The 4-way (and 5-way) fittings is/are rock solid. The fittings are robust, weather resistant, deliver a surprisingly high strength to weight factor and all can be cut and drilled with simple wood working tools. BTW; I do NOT use glue on any of my projects - I screw them together (see picture). This gives me adequate joinery strength (for MY projects) plus the ability to disassemble anything I build in case I want to use the parts or pipe for some other project in the future. Overall I am thrilled with the availability of these fittings as it simplifies project development and construction. The down side is that they are FAR FAR FAR too expensive for what I assume it takes to manufacture these things. These are pre molded plastic - not titanium or stainless steel. Pricing deserves attention but other than price these are great products.

If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. This product does not work because the inside diameter of the hubs is a few thousandths too small to receive a 2" PVC pipe. It was very frustrating since the rest of the project was already glued together and could not be completed due to the failure of this product. It caused me to lose a lot of material and time.

Good quality. A bite pricey. I used it to build cat posts.
