works but wish it was a bit more compact
I really like this keyboard...so much so that I am now using it on my desktop computer as well as with my laptop. It feels good to type with and it is much more compact than my standard Dell Keyboard so my tiny desk is now more usable.Only 4 stars because I really bought this for my laptop.I thought it would fit nicely in my lap and make using the laptop while reclining on a couch possible. It is large for me...better than trying to balance my 17" wide screen lap top (with cooling pad...gateway sure runs hot) in my lap but still not ideal.Only other issue...still have some problems with the key arrangement...hit wrong buttons regularly...but that's something that time will change. One other thing...when I did a clean reinstall of my OS I had to fish out my old Dell keyboard...usb keyboards apparently don't work until you've reinstalled all your software..I'm sure other people are aware of this...but I wasn't... so just paying it forward for other newbies like me.

Mini Track Ball Wore Out
I just bought my 2nd one of these in the last 3 1/2 years. The X-axis rubber roller wore out, but the keyboard has always worked fine. The mini trackball needs constant cleaning due to lint/etc. buildup in the base, and occasionally had to 'tweezer' the rollers to pull off hairs. Just had to turn CCW the outer ring, pull out ball, and finger clean the base. Was somewhat of an inconveneince about 2x's/wk, but the advantages of L. thumb buttons/R. trackball made me sold on the concept. I'm also used to the key layout as compared to my laptop keyboard, since I have my laptop on a cart next to my recliner and put this keyboard on my lap while using. I use 8-10 hrs/day often (various forums/shopping/email/stc.) and am on the laptop every day. Got used to the layout & trackball...worth the $50 every 3-4 yrs.Gave it 4 stars because of the regular mini trackball cleaning reqd

Okay keyboard, terrible trackball
Bought this keyboard to put into a keyboard tray in a 19" rack that did not come with a keyboard. It fits okay in the rack/tray (not perfectly, since it wasn't designed for it). The trackball, however, tends to slip badly and require fussing around with it to get the mouse pointer to respond. Will probably replace it at some point, but thankfully I don't need to use it very often since most of the time I can (or must with virtualization) access the servers in the rack remotely. It's annoying enough that I hate using it when I need to, but rarely need it enough to have bothered with replacement yet. If you expect to rely on the trackball with any frequency, I suggest finding a different keyboard.

Does it's job, but pricey.
Wow is this thing expensive, but I need a keyboard with a trackball for working on kiosks that need the touch screen calibrated when replacing failed hard drives, and it beats having to carry a mouse. Way better than a Perixx I tried first, that frustratingly half died on me. The Windows Key, T,Y, Backspace and the Menu key near right CTL all stopped working, forcing me to bite the bullet on this. I started out with one of these that was provided by my employer, while I wouldn't call the trackball precise, it also is better than the overly sensitive one on the Perixx, with better left/right click layout as well.I'd buy it again if I lose it again, but that price though.

Mouse roller ball not accurate.
Mouse roller ball is a bit touchy. pointer goes crazy sometimes when moving mouse pointer around the screen. But other than that, it is a decent mini keyboard/mouse combo unit.

Squeaky trackball stutters
Out of the box the trackball SQUEAKS, a day or two later it starts to stutter. Gets to a corner of the screen and gets stuck, taking many tries to get it out. This is going back to Amazon. The search for a decent mini keyboard with a smooth fast responsive trackball continues. Fentek puts out a mini keyboard w/trackball USB that I have used --3 keyboards in 3 years. They all manage to breakdown in the 13th month, just past the warranty period. That is the reason I was trying out the Adesso. I use the keyboard for serious typing as well as surfing and video editing. A mini with a trackball keeps me out of physical therapy. But most of the new ones are for multi media home theater use and not for serious computing. If anyone finds a good mini keyboard w/trackball, please post!

Nice keyboard but trackball didn't work
Trackball cover was not connected when I opened the box and ball was rolling around loose. I didn't think it was a big deal, just put the trackball back in its slot, put the cover on, and turned the cover to lock it in. Turns out it was a big deal because the trackball didn't work. So keyboard is being returned. I really liked the keyboard, but it's worthless to me without a working trackball. So back to Amazon it goes.

Adesso Keyboard
Forced to use this style of keyboard for 'stand-up' use in a rather sterile environment. Mouse ball seems to hang-up after only a few months use, but can ususally be cleaned. Over-all a good keyboard when kept clean.
