A good read!
Seller did a good job. Earlier than expected on both orders. Was pleased with the book. Sent one to my Sister and she liked it as well. A good history lesson and good information. I learned things I didn’t know. Always a plus., and a sweet love story to boot.

I love the way David Collins writes for even though the reading level is 10 or so, I cry and all ages of my family enjoy the books. The book end might have been a little better. I recommend Collin's books to develop the love of individual initiative, which has always been the great spirit of our America especially when there was not welfare and necessity created creativity.

Useful in talking with my 9 year old about many roles in wars
I read this book to my 9 year old son and we both enjoyed it. We listened several times to "The Star Spangled Banner" and I can tell that my son was more thoughtful about the lyrics after having heard the biography of the man who wrote them. Although Francis Scott Key's life may lack some of the fast-moving plot of some others, such as George Washington, this book demonstrated how a man's talents can be utilized in different situations for good. Francis was a man of integrity and was willing to risk his own life for others. I had heard in school growing up that Key was the author, and that he wrote it while held captive on an ship. Hearing the story leading up to it makes all the difference. Key was a lawyer, so he was great with words and negotiation. He was also a kind man. He heard a Doctor had been taken prisoner by the British and he immediately stepped into action to attempt to negotiate the release of the Doctor. It was unique to hear of a war hero that did not in any way glorify the tragedy of war. Key was not a hero for how many 'enemy' men he shot down or how well he could handle a cannon or the like. The Lord used Key's gifts and talents to save a life without incurring more bloodshed. I think this is an aspect of war that is not always taught to our little boys who sometimes idolize soldiers.

Great History Lesson
This is a book that my mom read to me when I was a kid and I have read to my kids and we have all thouroughly enjoyed. Unlike most books about historical figures, the Sower Series includes the faith that was so very important to each and every one of the people written about. What a truly awesome way to show our kids the real history of our Nation. One Nation, Under God!
