The Friendly Swede Balaclava Face Mask Ultimate Protection Neck Gaiter Bandana (Standard/Nordic/Arctic)

So I purchased these about two weeks ago for a winter hike up to Mount McLaughlin in Oregon the temperature with 8° at its lowest 17° at its highest these balaclavas initially seemed a lot thinner than what I expected so I was afraid how they would perform. I was not disappointed they function very well keeping my head and neck warm to the point where I did not want to cover my face.they were extremely comfortable and flexible they felt so good I even slept in it which helped when the temperature dropped The craftsmanship and stitching were great there were times I forgot I was even wearing it. The fact that it came in a two pack was even better as one of the guys forgot there's so I gave him one and he loved it as well. Great job guys. I wish I had bought another set🙈 The only sad part is I didn't get any cool stickers 😞 Buy it I you won't regret it👍🏽

Product review based on first Balaclava ever purchased.Pros: Thin design which will work well with Helmets. This was my biggest concern, was this going to be uncomfortable while wearing, but it was not. This mask is longer then expected which is great. It really covers my neck. I will say it did a good, not great, job at keeping my face warm from cold wind. I will note this was my experience from a day with 20 F weather, and next week i will be in 5-10 F weather in Vermont, so we will see.Cons: I'm not sure if this was just me, but i did feel excessive pressure over the nose. You can see in my pictures that the mask is pretty tight, but it did become more loose during the day. This is my only complaint, which doesn't warrant a negative star.

From December 2018 to February 2019, I worked for an ice and snow removal company in the Chicago area. On most days, our crew would start work at sometime around midnight and finish up around six in the morning. Needless to say, I experienced some of the harshest weather America has to offer, including the "polar vortex" which caused temperatures to plummet to fifty-two below zero on one occasion. So it's fair to say that I put this Balaclava to the test. And I can report that it passed with flying colors. The Balaclava was very effective at keeping my face warm and dry in even the most extreme conditions. It was also quite comfortable, too, which allowed me to keep it on for hours at a time without a problem. The only downsides I noticed were some moderate moisture buildup around the mouth area and a mild pressure near the temples. However, such issues are basically unavoidable in a Balaclava, and neither of these issues became serious problems for me, so I can't hold it against the product. The Balaclava was also easy to wash and seemed to come out of each was with its material in tact, although I only used it for a few months. I'm sure over longer periods of time, the material will being to wear. But, again, that is pretty much unavoidable in a product like this. So all things considered, I have to say this Balaclava was well worth the money.

I was pleased to find a pink hat like this so it doesn't look like a bank robber. The pink is the lightest one, though, so I still bought a darker one (arctic warmth) for the coldest days. I bought this so I can run in the winter. My lungs hurt from the cold otherwise. I want to run in 5K races and will wear these there. Weather in the 50's or below makes my lungs hurt. These are great. Depending how much you layer with an extra hat, I can run in 40 below windchill (I tried that once) and it was doable with lots of layers but the ONLY thing I lacked was high tech socks/and shoes with less mesh for enough warmth. Note these are NOT made in Sweden (China) and that disappointed me, but you can't beat the price.

I ordered the Nordic, red and black double pack. They're nice looking but are very thin and get cold fast in 20 degree Fahrenheit temperature in the Colorado mountains where I live. This review is primarily for the red one.They're also a little tight for my head which measures 23" circumference around the brow.They're very tight woven so breath doesn't penetrate and exchange readily so they do develop condensation and get wet around the nose and mouth. They have a slight chemical plastic odor when worn over the nose and mouth that actually irritates my eyes and throat a little. I hand washed them before use. The red one bled quite a bit but the black one didn't.I haven't used them very much yet and may try to return them.I haven't had any trouble with them other than that.These will probably be good at about 40 degrees Fahrenheit but not much colder than that for very long. They're thin enough that I can wear them under my full brim hat.

The masks are simply THE BEST. We had few very cold days in Virginia and the temp went down to -5F with a wind chill of -15F and I was outdoors for 8 hours and the mask performed like a charm. I did not feel the wind or cold around the neck or face. I would highly recommend them. Actually I will be ordering a second set as backup just in-case Friendly Swede decides to discontinue them. Thank You Friendly Swede for an excellent product, and PLEASE DO NOT discontinue them.

Finding a balaclava that fits with the helmet is not easy. Till I found the The Friendly Swede ones that is. Their balaclavas are thin enough not to cause any issues with helmet. I have a 60cm head and wear a size XLarge Bern fully open. No issues and no pressure points at all with balaclava under the helmet.This Christmas Day we got hit with a one heck of a snow storm with 30mph winds. This thin balaclava protected my face from the elements.I never knew comfort like this existed.Zero interference with goggles. Also, I could pull the from part covering the moth and nose with one hand in gloves.Like some of the reviewers said, the very front will get a bit of a moisture build up. Probably because of the material this was never an issue. Dried up very fast so I could keep going.Two balaclavas coming in one package is a plus. My son confiscated one and used it every day for six hours plus.No issues or concerns.Thank you for the great product and price.

Very comfy and warm . Misleading website as it stipulates that there is two in the packet, even within the questions when asked it says two but that is not all the balaclavas and not this one i was told when i emailed them.
