CanonEOS 2000D 18-55 III [EU Product with 2pin plug]

Great camera all around. Perfect for GCSE/A level course student. Can't fault it so far.

Such a brilliant starter camera. Has shoot and go, no faffing, but when you are ready, other modes are built in including full manual operation. The picture quality is very good although I have a preference to a fuller saturation. There are settings in the camera which can be experimented with. You can buy all the usual accessories, filters etc. also, keep in mind that once you have the camera and it’s serial number you can to to canon website and download there excellent processing software. Importantly, this camera shoots in both RAW and jpg. For those of you who don’t know what RAW is, here goes:Imagine you are baking a cake. You have flower, sugar, eggs, chocolate, milk, colouring, icing etc. all the ingredients you need. Now, bake it in the oven and what comes out is a jpg. All blended, fixed and bonded as one thing, a jpeg file. Yes you can change some basic elements like brightness. Now imagine you have your cake (a RAW image processor software) but it isn’t baked but you can still see the cake as a whole. So, in this way you can really work with every basic element/building block of the picture having total control over editing way, way beyond what you can do with a jpg file. Once you love your picture, you use the software to ‘bake’ the picture into a jpg, done. Just so you know, when you go through initial setup, you can tell the camera to save both one jpg and one RAW file each time you shoot for each picture. I would highly recommend you do this. Especially as canon giver you software at no additional cost and it is a very professional package. Great camera, go for it. Oh, it’s also very lite indeed. If you come from an SLR age, you will notice straight away.

This camera is a really good choice for those getting into photography as it has a range of features like landscape mode, this alters all of the settings for you so you can get the best landscape shots.The only thing is the manual mode can be quite daunting at first but once you get your head around it this camera is perfect !The lens that comes with this camera (18-55) is the perfect lens for beginners as you can do wide angle shots and zoomed shots.

I am a beginner and this is the first real camera I have bought. In the collage I have added the left side picture is from the Canon EOS 2000D and the right hand side pictures are the same thing but taken with my iPhone so the increased quality is really clear. The rest of the pictures I have added are from the camera.As you can see, it takes lovely pictures of food and the detail is amazing for such a low cost camera with a basic lens.All of the pictures attached were taken on ‘auto’ which the instructions recommends forbeginners except for the portrait which was taken with the night time function. Auto is fine but I have found playing with the different settings will help get a better picture.The beef dish you can see on here was taken in a dark restaurant and I disabled the flash so I didn’t disturb others and the camera kept telling me that this will cause lower quality images but I think it still turned out well… just not as well as if I had left the flash on.The only down sides and the reason for 4* instead of 5* are:- It doesn’t like scenery as much as other pictures- It does not like motion but the price of this camera and lens must be remembered- It will refuse to take a picture if it cannot find a focus and this can be frustratingOver all, I would recommend to a beginner :)

it has been great, sticking it on the end of my skymax on my eq6r has given me an inexpensive way to get into the hobby... now to upgrade! give me some stunning photos so far, captures some amazing data that needs to be stretched out
