A little expensive considering Argos used to sell the exact same one for £4 but seems to have been discontinued from their stores. However apart from the price I am very happy with this purchase, we needed a stair gate to stop our puppy going upstairs and due to the bannister design the gate wouldn’t sit properly, now it works just fine. Feels nice and sturdy and was very easy to follow the instructions!

I was amazed at how complicated this was to put together, for what is basically a piece of wood that you strap to a post. Instructions are very poor, and the process of assembling and fitting it is extremely fiddly. Not only that, despite being advertised as a universal staircase adaptor, it will only safely fit a post of very specific measurements with a bannister at a certain height and it is not adjustable. In the ended up having to throw it away and drill into the post anyway. Total waste of time and money.

End product is fine but the installation instructions are dreadful, very complicated and diagrams poor.

I don't understand how other reviewers have commented that this is easy to install. I have never come across anything so complicated but yet should be so simple as this product.The picture instructions are an incoherent mess, don't buy this product unless you want to frustrate yourself.

I'm really happy with this product, it works perfectly. Been using ours for a year now and have just ordered a second one for another set of stairs in our home. As far as I could find it's the only one of its type so it's a real life saver. Would highly recommend.

Had to fit a stair gate onto my stairs however didn't want to screw into the wood. I didn't want a pressure gate due to the trip hazard so opted for the MultiDan gate. The Staircase Adapter kit cleverly straps to the Staircase Post with its really smart locking system. The wooden baton then gives a smooth surface in which to fix the gate to without drilling into the stairs! Excellent piece of kit BabyDan

As another reviewer has commented, this isn't a universal staircase adapter because it doesn't fit my staircase post. I didn't think ours was overly large but when I started putting it together I found that the straps were not long enough to both wrap around the post and secure into the adapter pieces. This is ridiculous- babydan should be supplying longer straps. I can buy straps for around 6.50 but also now need the double sided sticky tape as had already applied this to the straps. Now becoming a very expensive solution and not all impressed. Now thinking of abandoning the project altogether, throwing away the staircase adapter and putting the stair gate somewhere else. For info the diameter of our stairpost is 51cm. Wish I'd taken a photo before I'd taken the thing down! Overall a waste of money and time, all because babydan are stingy with the straps.
