Cubed Provolone - Frank and Sal - 1 Pound - Italian Import - Picante - Antipasto or Charcuterie Board

My husband is from the east coast and grew up on Italian cheese and bakery goods. He has complained for years about the "phony" provolone you get anywhere but New York. So, this year, as part of his birthday present, I bought some Frank & Sal's provolone. Authentic! He loves the cheese and the real smokiness it has. Unlike the "smoke flavor added" cheese you get at the store here. The shipment was packaged well, and arrived on time. I did talk to someone in NY at Frank & Sal's and they were very friendly, helpful and customer service oriented, Not what you expect from NY, lol. I highly recommend this cheese and Frank & Sals. We also got cannoli shells and cannoli cream, both the best I've ever tasted, and passed my husband's taste test with a 5 star rating.

I thought I had ordered the provolone by itself. The two packages arrived, still frozen, and each package had a mixture of cubed ham and provolone. I used one on a pizza...in a hot oven, on a pizza stone, with the usual sauce and mushrooms, and it was edible, but the meat was tough to chew. I kept the other pouch in the freezer, and when I thawed it, I separated the cheese from the meat and fried the ham and used the cheese for a different dish. The meat had a mildly unpleasant smell and was too tough to eat. I had to discard it. I don't know if it was actually ham, I'm thinking perhaps it was Guancale, which I have no experience with. I won't buy cheese or meat online again. The only positive part is I found a good use for the foods styrofoam container.
