Frankford Arsenal Pile Driver Projectile Puller, Easy Pull Handle, Standard and Magnum Carrier Assembly, for Reloading and Gunsmithing

Works great, usually requires 2 cycles to get the bullet out. Tried it on 32Gr .204 Ruger up to 180Gr .308. Zero marks on projectile, fast operation. Two small issues, it’s loud in operation, annoys girlfriend and dogs. Cats are chill with it. The included mounting screws are very soft metal, one stripped very easy, replaced with one from my stash so problem solved.

I saw this awhile back and thought , yeah right, plastic junk. Then in an online conversation with another reloader he mentioned that he had one and liked it. I figured I'd give it a shot, after all it's Amazon and I could easily return it. I tried it and it's NOT going back! It does need to be mounted vertically and to a solid surface. I mounted mine to the window frame in my gun room, I also used a piece of 5/8" ID clear tubing to run to a catch container. So far I tried .38 and .357 lead and jacketed, 30-06,30-30, 300BO 9mm, .45ACP and 5.56. Most bullets seemed to take two 'strikes' with the exception of 5.56 they popped out in one. If your like me and just toss all the rejects into a bin to get around to someday, well someday is here! I have about 25 years of rejected rounds to do, I know what I'll be doing this winter.

Imounted the Pile Driver securely to a ¾" particle board wall (with some of the screws into a stud). I attached a ¾" clear vinyl hose and routed it to a large catch container which had a screen mesh inside. The mesh allowed the powder to fall through and still catch the bullets (and occasional casings). The small bullet trap included is way too small and good for 1rd before having to dump it and clean it. After 45rds, the retaining nut that holds the Locking Knob came loose causing the Locking Knob to come off the Carrier Assy. I tightened it securely and the problem did not reoccur (maybe Lok-Tite it?). The Rubber Spacer on top of the Carrier Assy tends to bend up, getting in the way. Just be mindful of this so it's not a real problem. The most perplexing issue was that 20% of the empty cases (and some full cartridges) fell out of the Carrier, down the tube and into my catch container. This may be the result of dimensional variances in the casings and how tight the bullet is held by the case neck. IMHO, The Pile Driver works well, nothing broke, and it makes bullet pulling easier and faster. It took me less than 2hrs to pull 517 bullets, reclaim the powder and sort the brass. The actual pulling process going slow and steady, averages about 5rds per minute. Overall, 4-½ rds per minute, including dealing with any issues. I think the key is to secure the Pile Driver securely to a solid non-flexing, non-moving object and go slow, steady, and methodically. The designer and engineer should have done more testing and tweeking before marketing this product. (i.e.-using metal bolts and bushings for the handle pivot pins instead of plastic. Also, a slightly stronger spring or non-smooth collet to hold the casing).

If you are need to pull 1,2,5. Go get the 12 dollar hammer. If you have 150 get this thing. Buddy this thing pulls in 2 pulls and as a manufacturer time is money as the hammer just don't cut it.

This thing WILL remove a bullet. Let me tell you though, it is loud. First time I used it the wife came running in my gun room thinking I had a gun go off!!

1st. Put Locktite on the cartridge carrier locking device bolt. It is likely to loosen, best to just do this 1st and let it dry 2nd. Sheetrock is not a sufficient backer. Even with anchors the Piledriver will loosen up as the Sheetrock gets jolted over and over. 3rd. Get longer high quality wood screws like 2" deck screws if you mount this on a Sheetrock wall. You may need washers as well. The included screws do not engage the studs enough when used through Sheetrock. Now the review: Superior in every possible way to my collet puller and impact hammer. I had a contaminated batch of 308 Winchester and pulled 240 + bullets in under an hour. My setup included a piece of hose routed into a container and the Piledriver mounted to my garage wall at just under chest height. Load round, activate the tool 3 times, remove carrier and use a nut driver to quickly wiggle the empty cartridge from the shell holder, repeat. Could not be easier.

Well that was a waste of money. The part that connects the linkage broke in less than one hundred 9mm shells. For as much tension and shock being produced. Plastic is not is not the material for this application. Also there is nothing on frankfort arsenal web site to order replacement parts. Do not recommend

Best parts of a mechanical (press-based) and kinetic bullet pullers without the downsides of either. some rounds may take a few whacks with heavy crimps or long, light bullets with lots of bearing surface against the case neck but it works like a charm on everything I've tried so far. Couple notes though: -Keep ear pro handy, it makes quite a racket when it goes off. -don't use something flat or open topped like an acro-bin to catch components. They come out vigorously and will bounce out out to oblivion.

worked for about 80 rounds, very effective tool but the plastic catching collet broke. I engineered a new collet out of copper plumbing supplies and seems to be fine now. Most people do not need to pull many bullets, in my case I have to decap around 1500 rounds of old dead ammo...for volume you will need to do some engineering. I have gone over many reviws and after over 2400 rounds of 9 mm, 9 major, 38 super and .40, I say this stands the test...yes it is loud
