strong yes, 63 lbs no way
for what i needed, these were the best bang for my buck. there are definitely smaller AND stronger magnets available but what i could find was significantly more expensive than these.they are pretty strong, but pretty big too (like 2" dia)... on a vertical plane i doubt you could hang 15lbs from one of these magnets... from a horizontal plane you might be able to get close to 20... i have no idea what they use to rate the lbs on these but there is no way from any angle this thing holds 63lbs... maybe on the moon... but not on earth.i think someone said to be careful not to drag them along a painted surface as it would scratch... i would say thats a safe bet.IMPORTANT (to some...) these hooks are not fixed, they spin freely in place

Grrrips the roa... err, steel surface.
Purchased item(s) to hold a bundle of heavy power cords plugged into ceiling outlets pulled out of the way against the rear of a large industrial band saw. They really grip. In fact, the only caveat I would offer to potential purchasers is that they are difficult to move once attached to a steel surface. There is no way to grab the bases in a way that allows lifting one edge up to break the magnetic coupling. As long as you don't plan on using these in a manner that requires frequent relocation I can recommend them.

this was exactly what i was looking for - same as I have purchased in the past, however I must note how dangerous the magnets are - pinched my thumb skin and could not get loose...tore skin from thumb....but they are great for hanging on glass doors and window - must be careful.

Worked for our coats
These magnets have been strong enough to hang childrens coats on metal shelf. I am pleased they have the strength to work for what I wanted. 5 stars for me!
