Extremely fun book with a lot of unusual ingredients needed
This book is just an absolute blast to look through and get inspired by. My kids and I made bath bombs from a tiny kit and enjoyed this minimal process enough that we wanted to try doing a better job making more exciting bath bombs. This book has a huge array of fun photographs that are extremely inspiring.I think this book is for people who are very invested in making fancy soaps and bath bombs, and are willing to spend a lot of money on specific molds, unusual ingredients, etc. For us, after reading through the book enough to understand a little bit more about how the bath bomb recipes work, I'm thinking that we can substitute our existing essential oils for some of the fragrance oils, and omit ingredients like polysorbate 80 and some emulsifying or foaming agents to make simple bombs that are fun enough for the kids without having to drop a bomb to make them. For colorants, the author calls for colored mica which is easily purchased online. You'll need to purchase whatever molds you need for making the bombs or for all of the fancy shapes which make so many of these bombs special. While I was aware I would need citric acid and baking soda along with some manner of oil, I was not aware I would also be called to purchase polysorbate 80, sodium laurel sulfoacetate, cyclomethicone, cocomidopropyl betaine, bentonite clay, arrowroot powder, Epsom salts, cream of tartar, and more. While not all of the recipes need all of these special ingredients, all of them seem to need at least one and usually two.I totally understand that some of these ingredients are what makes the bath bombs in this recipe book really functional and awesome, and I appreciate that she explains at the beginning a little bit about what the ingredients do, I think that this could have been a stronger book had she explained on every recipe page how the recipe could potentially be tweaked to make it simpler. For example, put a little parentheses next to polysorbate 80 and say, emulsifier helps oil-based ingredients disperse more evenly, keeps colorants from staining bath tub, and note whether it is an optional ingredient or non-optional.Overall, this is an extremely inspiring book for those who want to make really special bath bombs as gifts for people, or perhaps even get ideas to tweak and customize for sales. However, the casual bath bomb maker who just wants to have a fun project with the kids should be aware that this book will require a little more investment in unusual ingredients that you may not end up using up unless you are a hard-core, continual bath bomb maker.

All you EVER wanted to know about bath bombs & more.
My teen autistic grandson LOVES bath bombs & makes them for gifts. At the beginning is the information about ingredients, molds, making basic bath bombs, making embeds, designing soap & lots of tips & tricks. Then it gets into the fun stuff. There are over 75 recipes to make some really creative bath bombs. I thought they’d be recipes for using different herbs & ingredients but it goes way beyond that. This is right up my grandson’s alley. There are some really amazing bath bombs that would be great for gifts. Baby-friendly ones for young children, food ones to trick the eye, bath salts, gummy bear shower jellies, ones for different holidays, others to heal, treat & comfort the skin. You name it, you can probably make it into a bath bomb. The pictures are bright & pretty & the recipes are specific. Some of the recipes call for ingredients around the house like soda, salt, cornstarch & cream of tartar. But they need other, less common ingredients like polysorbate 80, citric acid, cocamidopropyl betaine, white kaolin clay & other things that sounds like you’ll be setting up a science lab. This isn’t a project that you’ll want to plan on making one batch & not ever doing it again. Once you have everything on hand, it’ll probably be so fun you’ll be giving bath bombs & its many variations for Christmas gifts to everyone in the family for the next 10 years! It’s more work than I want to do but I think it’ll be a really good book for my grandson & will keep him occupied for a long time. This is THE definitive book on bath bombs!

Very creative, easy to follow, and gorgeous pictures! Love this!
I recently got my youngest son with special needs some bath bombs with little cheapie toys in them, and he got hooked on them. They were not cheap, and once we ran out of them, he was asking for more. I didn't want to bust the bank ordering fancy pants bath bombs all the time when we could probably start making them ourselves, so I got this Homemade Bath Bombs & More book to get some good ideas on how to make them ourselves and just stick our own little toys in them (or create even more fun styles of bath items). This book is actually really, really nice - and it has fantastic "recipes" and ideas on creating really super unique bath bombs and other beauty bath products that I never would have dreamed of being able to create. The directions are easy to follow, with bright, beautiful pictures. More importantly, it's just REALLY creative and many of them look like real food items you can eat! The suggestions and "recipes" make the creations WAY more gourmet than those really expensive bath bombs we got earlier, and there's a large number of different things we can do that will never grow old. Not only that, but I now have fantastic ideas on how to make homemade gifts for our friends and family with this - without having to spend a ton of money in the process.I had fun today sitting down with my son so he could peruse through this book and pick out something we could make together, and we are having fun with it. The book is very well made and is a nice, big hardcover that we enjoy looking through. The font is at a nice size and easy to read, and we are finding it super enjoyable. He's super excited about trying out a bunch of different kinds of bath items to create, and I'm tickled that we found something to show us how to create beautiful self-care bath items that we can use for ourselves and give to others. This book definitely gets two thumbs up from us - love it!
