Looks good. There were no damaged or missing pieces. All pieces were clearly marked and the instructions were very good. The parts fit the pre-drilled holes -- I had no problems assembling this piece. The bookcase is stable on my floor. I am happy with this purchase. I have bought products from this manufacturer before and I haven't been sorry.Regarding purchases of particle board furniture: I felt this was a good purchase for my home office. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on what to buy and I think some people don't understand this material. Particle board is both heavier and WEAKER than solid wood. That is why it is so much less expensive than a solid wood bookshelf which could easily cost 3 times as much. This means the shelves will sag if you put too much weight on them, or if the weight is not EVENLY distributed across the width of the board.The manual for this bookcase indicates the following max weightstop of bookcase 35 lbsadjustable shelves 25 lbs eachbottom shelf 40 lbsYou cannot load the shelf up with heavy stuff (including books) if you don't want the shelves to sag. Placing heavy books in the center of a 25-pound shelf will absolutely cause it to sag over time even if the books weigh less than 25 pounds because the weight is all in one place. If this is a problem, you should look for solid wood or something with metal supports under the shelves. There are youtube videos showing how some people have added solid wood framing around the particle board bookcases to strengthen them. (Not just sauder, but ikea and other manufacturer shelving -- they all have the same issues.) Personally at that point I would just pay the extra money for more expensive solid wood shelves but that's just me.Particle board does crack easily and can be damaged in shipping if the package gets dropped. The Sauder website has a link to reorder individual parts if something is missing/broken. I've been lucky and have not had to use the service. It's just a chance you take when you purchase this type of product.

I spent a lot of time looking at bookcases on Amazon & other places. I took the time to read the reviews on the items that I narrowed down as possibilities. While this item had negative reviews, it also had many positive reviews. Many of the reviews also contained tips for assembly and I found some of these to be helpful.This item arrived well packaged & with no damage. I inspected each piece before assembly & to ensure everything was included. The instructions were clear & I took my time in assembly to make sure pieces fit together as intended. It went together with no problem in a bit over an hour. Everything lined up & was flush. The only exception was the backing. I do not believe it is as square as it should be. However, I still had no problem attaching it, but was careful with nail placement.Overall, I believe that this was a good value for the finishing product. It's certainly not an heirloom product, but finished, it is attractive, sturdy, and works perfectly for our use in our home office area. I would recommend this bookcase to others.

I purchased the bookshelf while on sale and it was well worth what I paid. It was easy to put together by myself and looks gorgeous with the other furniture that I have. The rest if the furniture I have in the same room is black and this is a great contast. It looks beautiful and I'm excited to finally put out some of my late mother's collectibles on it for display.

This bookcase worked out well for me, but its not particularly well packaged and will require some luck to get one in one piece. Not much foam on the ends of the box, and basically all the panels are just stacked in the middle, touching. I had another of these years ago that arrived with just a tiny amount of cracking on one piece, but it wasn't that noticeable so I lived with it. Then when trying to move it upstairs more recently, half the studs in the top ripped out and also cracked the panels as it came apart. The way the main frame is joined is not particularly robust, so this time I glued the seems to try to strengthen it up. Also, be sure to (carefully) use all the nails to join the thin back piece, because it actually adds a bit of rigidity overall.

The instructions were very clear. All the hardware was in the box. Nothing was broken. Shelves are 12 inches deep. Looks great! I bought 2. I would buy these again. Very nice product.

I am never sure when buying furniture without seeing it but this is the third time I bought Sauder shelves and they are really great. They are easy to put together and really solid. Luckily the color is exactly what I wanted. I am happy I came across this brand.

Item came on time as expected and was easily assembled. Looks great once it is all put together, it could have been made of a bit more substantial material for the price paid. Seems as if the screw/cam system into the pressed wood could fail fairly easily.
