Excellent quality! (for the most part)
Let me tell you how hard I've tried looking for a brand new copy of this film for the last 3-4 years and I cannot find it ANYWHERE, so in the end, I came on Amazon to see if I could find a copy for a reasonable price and lo-behold, I found it. At first I was a little dubious, when it comes to Disney films, sometimes you may not always get such a good product cos they're very well sought after. But this one was of excellent quality-well, for the most part. The DVD case is decent and bright and inside you have 2 discs and even a little quiz/colouring card for the children-just like they used too years ago! It was a nice touch and gave me some nostalgia of my childhood :)The quality of the film is pretty darn good and with all the little extra features made this a fine viewing experience. The only downside that I could find, was the DVD did jump every now and then, but that was for only a few seconds at a time and didn't even last at all long, it just happened occasionally, so always check for any scratches on the disc beforehand just in case.I recommend this to anyone who loves or even has a special spot for the Disney classics. Like this film, I used to watch Disney films a lot whilst growing up and I'm not joking, but I have so many fond memories of each film. Every time I watch a different Disney film, not only am I experiencing something enjoyable, but it's also taking me back to the days when I was a child and thought everything was magical and wonderful.Disney films-like this one, can be viewed by anyone, so if you love the characters, the songs or even the animation, I highly suggest to buy this if you haven't done so already, it would also be worthwhile to buy 'The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning' to watch AFTER this film, trust me, you'll fully understand why the characters act the way they do if you do watch it :)

lovely duvley
I must say that the little mermaid is a classic Disney treasure and that i now know that king Triton is ginger because in the little mermaid Ariel's beginning i discovered that he has ginger hair and a ginger beard and that i don't understand why that Melody has brown hair and also after viewing the little mermaid 2 go dwell in the sea i also noticed that Ursala has a anorexic sister like a stereotype kind of family as if to say that universe ate all the pies and her skinny little sis Morgana shoved a tooth brush down her throat. skinny person before i watched the 2nd film i didn't know her name so i used to call her skinny Ursala because i felt the need to and another thing its great and across two discs you should find out how the film was made one disappointment is why doesn't it explain how the dad is ginger in 1 and grey in another /,and buy paris hiltons album. paris hilton rocks my socks. she is a great singer better than jodie benson's even. why didnt paris hilton do her voice? we could have heard that song she made. if they ever re-release it again on ebay i want her to do the soundtrack. using her vocals. her god-blessed chords. great woman.

Great, just beware that your daughter might just run off with a "human" eventually
So I thought we had a normal life before this film came into our lives, that's until it did. All of a sudden my daughter started trying to comb her hair with her cutlery at the dinner table, flopping in the bath tub like fish and then screaming "la-la-la, la-la-laaa" after putthing her to bed. Now she's singing about having legs and feet, and "walking around up there". After all this I personally think King Triton may have have had a good point.

Great 3D Version
Great on 3d, such a shame we have to go elsewhere due to lack of choice in the U.K.

is a 1989 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The 28th Disney animated feature film, it is loosely based on the 1837 Danish fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen. The film was written and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements and produced by Musker and Howard Ashman, who also wrote the film's songs with Alan Menken. Menken also composed the film's score. Featuring the voices of Jodi Benson, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Pat Carroll, Samuel E. Wright, Jason Marin, Kenneth Mars, and Buddy Hackett, The Little Mermaid tells the story of a teenage mermaid princess named Ariel, who dreams of becoming human and falls in love with a human prince named Eric, which leads her to make a magic deal with the sea witch, Ursula, to become human and be with him.Walt Disney planned to put the story in a proposed package film containing Andersen's stories, but scrapped the project. In 1985, while working on The Great Mouse Detective (1986), Clements and Musker decided to adapt the fairy tale and proposed it to Walt Disney Studios chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg, who initially declined due to its similarities to a proposed sequel to the 1984 film Splash, but ultimately approved of it. Ashman became involved and brought in Menken. With supervision from Katzenberg, they made a Broadway-style structure with musical numbers as the staff was working on Oliver & Company (1988). Katzenberg warned that the film would earn less since it appealed to females, but he eventually became convinced that it would be Disney's first blockbuster hit.The Little Mermaid was released to theaters on November 17, 1989, to critical acclaim, earning praise for the animation, music, and characters. It was also a commercial success, garnering $84 million at the domestic box office during its initial release, and $235 million in total lifetime gross worldwide, becoming the sixth-highest-grossing film of 1989. Along with the major success of both Disney's 1986 animated film The Great Mouse Detective and the 1988 Disney/Amblin live-action/animated film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Little Mermaid is given credit for breathing life back into the art of Disney animated feature films after some films produced by Disney were struggling. It also marked the start of the era known as the Disney Renaissance. The film won two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song ("Under the Sea").The film's success led to a media franchise. A direct-to-video sequel was released in 2000, focusing on Ariel's daughter, Melody. A prequel followed in 2008. The first film was adapted into a stage musical with a book by Doug Wright and additional songs by Alan Menken and new lyricist Glenn Slater opened in Denver in July 2007 and began performances on Broadway January 10, 2008 starring Sierra Boggess.Other derived works and material inspired by the film, include a 2019 live musical presentation on ABC as part of The Wonderful World of Disney, and a 2023 live-action film adaptation directed by Rob Marshall and starring Halle Bailey. In 2022, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant"

great hit with 4 year old
Little mermaid is a lovely film, Ariel a great character and Flounder and Sebastian very cute and funny. My boyfriends 4 year old little girl adores this and will watch it over and over. I would recommend and will watch it over and over without losing the will to live as can be with some kids films. Great if you have little girl. Would also recommend Little Mermaid 2 if they enjoy this, again it isnt a classic in the Snow white sense, but she seems to love it. Excellent soundtrack to both to have little jiggle to.

A Disney Classic
The Little Mermaid has become one of the all-time favorite animated Disney films. The animation and color are splendid and the music is perhaps the best in any Disney fairy tale classic. Three of the songs were among the five Oscar-nominated best songs in the year the film was released. "Under the Sea" received the coveted statue. The movie does not have a wasted scene and moves at a rapid and exciting pace. The humor of the film is noteworthy. Here is a Disney classic to be seen often. Viewers will find themselves humming songs long after the credits have rolled. Here is a charmer.
