As Described Tuna, Delicious! Updated on January11, 2026
Pro: This is as healthy as Tuna gets, simply because they are smaller when pole caught and haven't accumulated as much mercury as the older larger tuna have. Their Wild Caught Salmon is sourced the same way and in less contaminated seas. Pollution is a reality in our world, but we at least have a better choice with Wild Planet. Minimally processed, cooked in the can with the juices still preserved in the can, no salt added, no oils. Pure fish, no additives or artificial dyes. Taste the difference. Please don't drain the juices in the can, allow the juice to be mixed back into the fish, and then it will be moist, not dry. I do add organic spices like Dill weed, sometimes mashed avocado, fresh diced celery and a few green or black chopped olives to taste and skip the bread. It's incredibly satisfying and I eat the whole thing in one serving. It also comes in an easy to open pull top lid so you don't need a can opener, just a small bowl to remix the juices with the hand packed tuna. I find it easier to use a fork than a knife or spoon to minimize the splash from tuna juice when you put it into a small bowl. Enjoy! Con: Nothing that isn't a problem with everything we eat compared to hundreds of years ago. I like tuna and salmon in my diet several times a week, no skin or bones and no salt, water, oils, or additives to either the salmon or tuna. This albacore is the best, mild taste and I can use fresh herbs and add whatever I'm in the mood for each time. Pickle, olives, celery, or simply in the bowl with a fork to integrate the juice for a protein treat. It isn't a beef steak type, but it IS solid tuna and somewhat difficult to separate it from the can and that's a good thing! Updated on January11, 2026: I really wanted to support this company but the price increased $7.00 for the same product from the last time on Subscribe & Save. I can't keep up with that extreme inflation. I'll have to watch for future sales opportunities that happen a few times a year instead of S&S now. Still one of the Best Safe Wild Albacore Tuna commercially available.

Very Fresh Tasting
I have read some articles on this brand before several times but figured it's just tuna fish. My "Other" brand i got two weeks ago had a few cans that were "Fishy" smelling (going bad), but the expire date was next year. I didn't get sick or anything, but I was like "This should not smell like this" and.... That led me to try this brand and I'm very happy I did because It Tastes so much better, no smell. Old fish or going bad fish, not kept at the right temperature fish gets a smell to it and you know its on its way out, that's what I had in my previous can of tuna fish (another brand I won't mention). This brand of tuna i had some out of the can which I never do, and it was good right out of the can. I could not do that with the other brands of tuna fish I used to buy, it was the taste that threw me off. This Wild Planet Tuna Fish is well worth getting and I got the "No Salt" added which I prefer because I'm on a low salt food. I would Highly Recommend this product if you wanted good tuna fish.

Good but not great - Prefer Vital Choice tuna
I have purchased canned tuna from Vital Choice a few times (12 - 24 cans at a time) and I was trying to find another source that wouldn't be as expensive. A 6oz can from VC is $8-10 depending on whether I catch a discount. I decided to try Wild Planet. We have purchased some of their other canned salmon and it wasn't bad. The tuna is good but it doesn't stand out as being really good to us. We buy the no sale added version and granted, a little salt can help give anything a lift, but tuna come out of the ocean and have natural sodium content. We buy no salt added tuna from VC though and there is a noticeable (to us) difference in the flavor and texture. We prefer the VC tuna and are back to spending more than we wish we had to but I guess that means it's worth it. Our Maine Coon cats like drinking the juice from the can and since there's no added salt, we always give it to them. They eat some of the tuna too but I noticed that they don't gobble it up the way they do when we give them a little of the VC tuna. We don't give them much at that price, but who can say no to a Maine Coon? :) Anyhow, for the price compared to VC, yes, this tuna is decent. But if you are picky about flavor, I think VC is the way to go. Also, VC is guaranteed lower mercury content because they work with a specific fisherman who gives them only fish that are under a certain size. That matters too.

Worth the cost difference in every way!
At 79 yrs old, this is the first time I've tasted delicious tuna. Living on Social Security, and a PT job in a local church, I never thought I would be willing to pay $17.88 for four cans of tuna. Well I'm here to tell you, it was well worth the cost. I finished my first can making tuna salad, with diced Vidalia onions, a bit of diced celery, black pepper, Slap Ya Mama seasoning, sweet paprika, sweet relish and Chosen Mayo with avocado oil - so tasty. Not some watery mess, but real chunks of tuna. I'm already planning to purchase 8 cans my next SS check. I love seafood and tuna is truly on that list. I'm looking forward to making tuna croquettes! Worth the cost difference from lower cost cans of tuna.

Versatile for Meal Prep
It’s a bit more of an investment than the bargain brands, but the taste and nutritional profile make it worth every penny. If you appreciate clean, high-quality protein, this is the only tuna you’ll want in your cupboard.
