Awesome cot
I was looking for a cot to provide a more substantial and comfortable sleeping option for when I staff retreats. I chose this one because it appeared highly rated in some reviews I had read. In short, it is awesome. Very easy to set up. I combine it with a Therm-a-Rest Basecamp Self-Inflating Camping Sleeping Pad. The combo is very comfortable. Seems substantially built such that I expect it will last a while. I will say that it is not light . . . rather, it is fairly heavy, so this is probably suited only for car camping or other situations where one won't be caring it for great distances. Overall, I am impressed with the substantial nature of the cot and its comfort, relative to what I feel is a very fair price (given the seeming quality).

Cot is good, Found a workaround
EDIT: I found a workaround!!! Instead of trying to flip it over straight like in the video, flip it over tented. Then pull the 2 legs out (head and foot of cot) one by one. It's much faster and easier if you're on a smooth surface instead of grass and carpet. I still wish it had a way to lock the length that folds in half so you could just unfold, lock into place and flip it over the way the woman does in the video on ANY surface. With my new method of setting it up however, I'd say even a gangly preteen could do it all on their own with no assistance whatsoever. As for the wobbly middle leg, now that it's been worn in, it no longer wobbles. I'd say this is a 5 star product, I love it, it's quicker to set up than any other cot I've seen. OLD REVIEW: Disappointed in ease of setup but I like the cot. I have both minor and major complaints and a couple things I like about this cot. Minor complaints: One- Middle support legs are VERY wobbly and I have no idea how to tighten that or if it's even possible. Two: I've slept on it one night thus far and I have no fear that it will collapse while I'm on it, weight keeps it completely steady. BUT because there's no locking mechanism whatsoever, trip and bump into the head or foot of the cot, it starts to go into collapse mode. If it slides on the floor when you bump it there's no problem. BUT if the foot/leg on the opposite side from where you bumped ends up stubbing against something, it starts to fold slightly and will collapse if you try to sit/lay on it without stretching it out fully again. So beware. Three: Sagging. If you're a back sleeper the cot is comfortable as is (I'm speaking from the perspective of a short and light weight person). I however got this to put my trifold mattress on top of. There's very significant and noticable sagging if you use thick padding on top of this cot, so I used a dense 1 inch thick yoga mat under the 4" firm trifold mattress to fill the sag gap. The sagging is at least bearable now. I intend to get a sheet of wood to set over the cot, drill holes in the wood to tie it down to the frame of the cot, and then put the mattress on that. Because over time this will certainly break down my mattress and I intend to use this on a permanent basis but move it during the day. I expect that a 100+ pound person would experience worse issues with sagging so be aware. MAJOR complaint: It is NOT easy like the video shows. At all. When you lift the cot up by its side as shown in the video, it expands BUT soon as you try to flip it over like the lady did, it caves in on itself. It's a game of luck. You might get it right once out of 8 tries. In the video it seems to appear to lock in place somewhat when she lifts it up, in order for her to be able to turn it over. I don't know if mine is defective or not, or if it's because I'm a small person, but mine does NOT do that. I have to make at least 10 attempts to get this thing set up. Which means I may as well have bought a cheaper one which would take less time to set up than this. I'll try to find a hack for keeping the cot open when trying to flip it over, then update my review. Only get this if you are very strong and have a lot of patience to try over and over again. Likes: One- Though this won't be important to campers, on a hardwood/laminate floor it scoots EXTREMELY easily if you want to push it somewhere. This is helpful for me. It doesn't scoot when I roll over or shift my weight in bed. But if I want to push myself away from the wall so I can plug my charger into the outlet it takes very very little force at all to do so. For reference I have the Milliard trifold 4" mattress on top (31"×75") and a 1" thick yoga mat underneath it. Two- It's the perfect height and it's the height of an average bed if you put a 4" mattress on it. So you don't have to feel like you're compromising when it comes to height. What I LOVE about the cot: It is EXTREMELY easy to fold and put away. Turn it on its side and it collapses to form a "T" Push the two end legs to the middle and that's all. Takes all of 3-4 seconds. Fits into the bag perfectly with wiggle room. I don't have to fight this heavy thing into the bag at all. No stuffing, compressing, having to hold the stuff down while I zip etc. Smooth sailing. All in all I like it. I just wish it were easier to set up. I don't entirely regret my purchase, it does what a cot is supposed to do. But I will have to change how I intended to use it simply because of how extremely difficult it is to get it set up. Strong, tall and patient people should get this, they won't have a problem.

Simply amazing product - and customer service
After carefully reading product reviews and descriptions, I came to understand many of the issues with cots. It seems that most have one or more of these problems: squeaking, ripping, uncomfortable, too short, difficult to assemble/disassemble, collapsing. I kept returning to this Byers Easy Cot as the best option. I held back because of the expense. I am so happy I followed through with the purchase; I simply could not be more thrilled with the product and customer response, and I tend to be difficult to please! First of all, I am tall, so the longer length is appreciated. I like how it is completely flat without an elevated head tilt, since I am a side sleeper. It is also wider than many others, which is also nice. Now for some of the more important characteristics. This cot is EASY to set up! I would say less than 10 seconds (maybe 5!) after removing from bag. Your simply spread it out and pull it open! And the bag is blissfully not undersized as so many are, so it is easy to pack up, and made of very thick, beefy material and straps. This cot is dead SILENT to sleep on. I am 240 pounds and roll over a lot, and it does not make a single creak or squeak! It does not shake and shimmy; very stable. It is very COMFORTABLE. I used a 4” foam pad on top and it was great - so much more comfortable than the 8” of foam on the ground I used before, and nice to be able to sit on it when dressing. The canvas “gives“ just enough to make a world of difference from being on the hard ground. I was surprised to find that is was almost as comfortable to sleep on as my own bed! It is a little heavy, but you can bet that if it was any lighter, it would not be as stable and durable. When it arrived, the cot was in perfect condition, but one tooth on the bag zipper was damaged. Not a big deal, but for $100 I expected a perfect product. I dreaded contacting the company because of all the negative experiences we have all had. I sent them a message through Amazon and was shocked to receive a prompt and professional response from none other than the president of the company!! He assured me a new bag would be sent and his staff kept me informed of updates including tracking, and I did receive it promptly. I can’t imagine a better product, and customer service. Byers has a customer for life in me. They deserve to be celebrated for the way they operate, and in my opinion should be strongly considered if you are in the market for one of their products!

It truly is a Easy Cot
I ended up choosing this cot after watching a video on how easy it is to set up. My intent useage is for a extra bed in my RV when overnight guests come. I needed something easy to set up and take down and wide enough for comfort for my guest as well as fold up and store away in a small area. Some cots that I had looked at, appeared to be very hard to set up and needed alot of manual strength to stretch the fabric and legs out. So after watching a video on this one, I decided to give the Easy Cot a try. I received the cot and the fabric, frame and carring bag all are of good quality and construction. The width was important as I felt the 24-26 inch wide cots would not be comfortable for guests and with this one being 32 inches wide, it appears to be be the perfect width for comfort as well as to what would fit in the space allocated for it in my RV. The set up was exactly as stated...EASY! I was a little worried at first as their is no locking mechanism for the legs, but I laid on the cot and turned over several times and sat on the side of it. It did not show any signs of trying to unfold as I feared it might. The way the frame is built, it gives great support in all areas that are needed. I am putting eggcrate foam on it for additional comfort for my guests, so I cannot comment on the overall comfyness of it without the foam. I did lay on it for a few hours watching TV, just to see how the comfort level was and it appears that it will do well in that area. The length is great as well. I am 5.9 and there was plenty of room. After my comfort test I just laid the cot on its side and it quickly and easily folded up, it less than 60 seconds. The storage bag is well made and the cot slipped into it easily. So I believe that I did recieve the product that will work well for me and my situation. I would have given it 5 stars, but I still believe that it should have some type of locking system for the legs. Again, I had no problems, but just feel that would give added mental comfort that it would not fold up in the middle of the night. Great product and would recommende it for ease of use and quality construction. Great for seniors with ease of use as well.

This is the one. Well made/Quality product. Set up, folds up in seconds, perfect extra bed or camping cot!
Appears well made and sturdy, set it up upon receiving it via UPS. Literally took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to set it up! Sets up in seconds, easily a one man or woman job. Yes lil heavy, definitely not overly heavy, I look at that as "it will last" feature. You won't want to hike with it on your back but for putting in your car to go camping or for an overnighter at a friends, perfect! I'm mainly using mine for guests/extra bed, upon testing it out, laying and moving around on it, again seems like a great purchase, very well made, sets up and packs up in seconds and fits right back into the bag in comes with with no issues at all. To note, no end bars come with this unit, I did not want end bars, with past cots end bars are uncomfortable on your head if your tall and your ankles/feet, this is not an issue at all so don't think twice about the no end bars, not having then makes this cot even more comfortable! Plop down in the middle, swing your self on and get ready for a good nights rest! To note the obvious or not so obvious, you will not want to sit on either of the ends with no counter weight on the other side or you might flip, use common sense and you'll be just fine! I was waiting for the first one to see if I was going to order a second, I'm ordering a second one! want two for when me and the wife travel camp or have two guests stay over. I did a lot of research, This is the cot you want for an extra bed, camping, traveling what ever, its the one! Unless your carrying it on your back for 5 miles, then go with a light weight aluminum one, otherwise, hands down, this is the one.

Long enough for 6 foot person to stretch completely out. No hard end supports. Wonderful!
First, I do not normally comment on products. I expect things to be right with any product. No comment to me means the product was satisfactory. However. I will make an exception with this product. I read about this cot on line. Claims were: easy to open and fold, check; sturdy and well made, check; and very comfortable being 6 foot 6 inches long and 31 inches wide, check. Quality of workmanship and the absence of protruding metal just stood out when ready to use. Our church has a girls camp in the mountains. Adult female leaders stay with the girls in small barracks style cabins. Church leaders ask a few adult males to bring their tents and sleeping bags, and stay in designated areas away from the cabins to assist with physical type help. I am almost 71 years old, so my comforts in a tent are important to me. I ordered the cot on a Tuesday. Was supposed to be there on Friday. Came on Thursday. Went to the mountains on Monday, and had my test. I have slept on cots in the military and at other times. Never comfortable even when I was younger. Byer of Maine nailed this puppy. I slept extremely well. I move a lot, first on back, then both sides. No bumping metal on sides; no banging head or feet on the ends. Once set up, it does not move. I have no stock in Byer of Maine, and not compensated in any way. Just super happy with this product. So, lets see, easy set up and take down, very sturdy and well made, and as comfortable as a cot can be. Remember, this is not your master bedroom king bed. That said, I did sleep very well, nothing keeping me awake. One nit to pick, but not about the cot. The box was damaged in shipping. It was smashed like a baseball bat hit it toward the end of one side of the box. It had me concerned until I opened up the box. It was double boxed by the way. The impression went through the second box as well, but fortunately, there seemed to be no damage to the cot itself, a testament to Byer of Maine packaging. Again, not a nit to pick with the product, only those who were shipping. Come on shipping folks, you can do better. If you want an easy to set up cot that is also well made and super comfortable, I recommend you just buy it. BTW, I saved $10 through Amazon.

Great cot. Worth the price
I admit that i have not yet tried using this cot in the great outdoors but I have spent some time sleeping on it. I tend to drive in to work a bit early, around 2-3 hours, to avoid the traffic. Since i'm only driving around 12 miles and in traffic it takes me around an hour to get to work I think it's worth my time. Without traffic it takes me 15 minutes. Since I have the cot set up on a tile floor the legs seem to slip around a bit, but I assume that if I were to set this up outside this issue would become non existent. Set up is a breeze in an area big enough to accommodate the cot's width as well as your legs standing next to it. For me it's complicated because I set this up between 2 shelves at work so I have to stand all the way on one end and set up on side then walk around the shelf and set up the other side. Like I said earlier though, this cot would is a breeze to set up if you can stand directly beside it. NOT so easy if you can only stand on the end of it...this is solely MY problem though so I'm not counting it against the cot. There is a bit of a difference between the most taut areas and the least taut areas but it is luckily only a small difference. Even luckier for me the looser area ends up right under my butt when i'm lying on it. It all works out. There is a little bit of a "new cot smell" as soon as you take it out of the box and carrying bag it comes with but this smell soon becomes unnoticable. Now I don't notice it at all. I like that there are no end bars because when I take a cot camping its usually just set up under a canopy at the beach. When it's set up like this if it has an end bar people tend to walk into it because it sticks out a tad more than the cot itself so people don't realize it's there until it's slamming into their knee/shin. Not fun. No end bars = huge plus in my book. Another neat little thing is that the cot has little flaps that cover the hinge area. having your leg or arm touch a cold metal joint in the middle of the night wouldn't be very awesome. Also, having that flap there protects you from potentially getting pinched/scratched when opening the cot. Safety first :) I'm not sure how this will hold up but as of 5/30/2014 I have slept on this for about a week and it seems to be doing fine. I'll update when I scroll around through my old reviews that say I'll update later...hopefully I'll actually do it this time instead of only claiming I will. Honestly though...i'll try to remember to update

Comfortable, easy to assemble and very sturdy
I chose this cot based on it's overall size, weight capacity and it's good reviews and was not disappointed. It will serve me well for occasional overnight trips and for extra guests in our home.
