So much easier.
This was much better looking and easier to install than traditional means. Seems to fit more sturdy than my last set of handrails in my house. Will update performance if it changes in the future.

Solid Anchor for railing
I was skeptical on how well it would work, followed instructions and got a solid connection. I'll certainly look to this for my next challenging connection project.

Great product
Compared to traditional rail bolts these are much simpler to use. I had 12 railings to install so I used a combo of all the zipbolt products. These and the angled ones where my favorite for easiest to use. You don't have to be as exact with these ones as the angled railbolt. The drive bit does work, but can be a real pain to get it to catch especially if you weren't 100% accurate on your drilling into the rail. I used a flexible drill bit attachment in my drill to make the angle manageable. Once it catches it snugs up easily. Probably still easier than using a traditional 1/2" rail bolt wrench.

adapt for sheetrock use
do not attempt to attach to sheetrock, pulls right out of wall If thats what you need-build a thin bracket to keep wall end from moving.,attach to bannister end. Also use toggle bolts to attach to wall not the small wood screws great concept and easy to use but -cannot attach angle side with screw included.Angle brings it to close to wall. You will need a small ratchet

Don’t use in installations where balusters are shoeless
Made from a very cheap alloy. Felt like tin. The device installed per the instructions with no issue. Was able to dry fit it on the uphill side of a stair rake without too much trouble. This is when the issues started. I’m using metal balusters with no shoes. The fit needs to be tight. After installing several other sections, I was confident in the rest of the process. This one joint needed a different approach to fastening- the reason I bought this product. Once the balusters are in place on the stair treads, you cannot fit the hand rail between the posts with the device installed. Too much needs to stick out the end to fit into the keyhole, and there is not enough clearance between the posts. Further, you need to angle the handrail a bit and fit each baluster into its hole as you work your way up the rake. The T section of the fastener sticking out is a problem as you get toward the upper end not only because of the aforementioned clearance issue, but you also have to lift the hand rail high enough to get the head into the opening of the key hole, which enabled several balusters to fall out of place. After many tries with different ways of doing it, I abandoned the device and am using screws that will get plugged. I tried pulling the head all the way in to reduce the amount sticking out, thinking I could perhaps use the mechanism to push the head back out once everything was in place, but The gear mechanism that tightens the joint is also very hard to access in the tight angle, and meshes poorly making it difficult/impossible to do this, and I still had to lift the hand rail above the center to get the head to line up with the key hole. Had I been using shoes, and not caring about a sloppy fit where the balusters fit into the wood, and glue getting all over the baluster as I slid it up and down, this may have worked with difficulty. This application was totally beyond the capabilities of this device.

Lefty tighty
Is it common knowledge to turn the screw the opposite way with these kinds of bolts!? I didn’t know! No wonder people strip these guys. Righty loosey, lefty tighty. It took all day to install my small railing, but this product worked for both the upper and lower attachment. I went slow and read all the instructions many times. I did not buy the drill guide, I just used a Forster drill bit, tape measure, and speed square. I also cut the angle on my railing before I got this (it says in big bold letters not to), so I taped on a leftover piece of railing to square off the end to get my measurements right. Note that if you use it for the lower baluster attachment, you ADD 3mm instead of subtract for the end of step 2. I need my railing to be removable which is why I used this for top and bottom.

Easy Install
They may not be the only way to attach handrails, but they definitely made the job easier and more precise. Installation was straightforward, and the alignment was spot on with minimal effort. Once everything was tightened up, the finished connection is sturdy
