Southwest Wheel 3,500 lbs. Trailer Axle Electric Brake Kit 5-5" Bolt Circle

This is the best bang for the buck kit. I went through piecing together from other vendors and while a couple combos were a touch cheaper they were missing the backing plat nuts and washers or their reviews weren’t the greatest.To be sure of my order I measured up my spindles bearing journals, wheel bolt pattern and backing plate bolt pattern for my 3500# axles. These kits came complete and exactly what I needed to get my trailer setup with all 4 brakes. Each brake is marked right or left on the sticker to aid in install.I left the brakes set where they came fromThe factory. After the first 100 miles of break IMO will revisit adjustment. I coupled these brakes with a Reece progressive brake controller. The brakes engage smoothly and provide the stopping power to keep me safe when towing my equipment.

I AM A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC WITH 50 YEARS OF LEARNING. THEREFORE I EXPECTED SOME SORT OF OH NO. BUT IT WAS RIGHT THE OPPOSITE. IT WENT REALLY WELL AND EVERYTHING NEEDED WAS IN BOX.

Ordered this set to add brakes to my trailer. Everything needed to make the swap. Perfect fit. All seems to of great quality.

Every single thing you could need! Packaged excellently. The value and ease of installation make this kit a 'no brainer'.The included bolt pattern ruler should be a pre-sale item!!!! it will make those unsure of how to measure bolt patterns feel more confident.

as I opened each box of 2 brake drums and backing plates one had the bearings and some some of the parts for all 4 brake assembles and as I started to put things together the first thing I found was that there was no nuts or lock washers 16 each required. After a trip to a supply house I installed the backing plates with the brake assemblies. after wiring the breaks I moved on to the brake drums.. The first three everything went well then the forth drum a problem showed up in the outer bearing did not fit. After checking I found that the outer bearing was not the correct bearing for the system. There was grease in the bearing so it was not a new unit. after getting a new bearing the rest of the job was easy. After each problem I sent a email to the supper I have yet receive any return emails. This does not speak well of the company to not respond to a customer

The new brakes were installed on the left and right sides according to their labels, which also matched the old brakes in appearance. They were adjusted for a slight drag on the shoes when not engaged, and I did a few low-speed stops to bed the new shoes to the drums. However, even with my brake controller set to maximum, there is barely evidence of brake drag. After that first test, I readjusted the brakes, leaving a constant low-level drag on both wheels. The next test was just like the first -- essentially ineffective. I have tested them with two different brake controllers as well as behind a different tow vehicle equipped with a factory-installed brake controller with no improvement in performance. The brakes are receiving 12.2 volts with maximum manual application of the controller, well in excess of recommended minimums from two qualified sources. They are still adjusted to provide a constant drag on the wheels. Unlike my previous well-worn trailer brakes, these are ineffective. The supplier, Southwest Wheel, has been contacted four times, twice by me and twice by Amazon. Southwest Wheel ignored my first contact while the rest have been terse and without any attempt to diagnose my problem. Amazon representatives have been very helpful in their attempts to solve my issue. My strong recommendation is not to buy this or any other product from Southwest Wheel.
