Extremely effective
Unlike other rollers, this one has a slight “give” so it doesn’t hurt when you are rolling your spine over it. I really like this item. Works well on back and hip and legs! It is lightweight as well.

How to work out that tension | Great for ITBS
I had started using a foam roller (open cell foam, not near the quality of the SPRI EVA Foam Roller reviewed here) at my gym due to a tight IT band. I'm not going to say I like using this product, because it is absolutely brutal when starting. Self inflicted pain has never been my bag. However, there is no doubt that it works very well, you just have to work through the pain. Physical therapy has always seemed to have been painful for me. When I went to a physical therapist for leg problems before, I seem to recall him pushing me beyond my limits, at every appointment. It's the same with the foam roller except that you have to push through it on your own. I do love rolling on my back over this roller, up to my neck, and work my shoulders. Fantastic for releasing minor muscle tensions and works great for the seriously tight areas as well, just be prepared to go slowly at first and stick with it. This particular model is far superior to the one in the gym that I used. You will be very happy with the quality of this product. By the way, I would not purchase any books on how to use this product, as there are many videos online demonstrating the effective uses of a quality foam roller such as the SPRI EVA Foam Roller. Be sure to drink plenty of water after using this product to aid in the elimination of toxins that may have been present in muscle knots that this roller is so effective at releasing. I have also noticed that I may be moody occaisionally, as I've worked out some of my "favorite" areas to hold tension. We all have these tension areas and discovering them and releasing them through the use of the SPRI EVA Foam Roller is maybe the best reason to purchase this product and USE IT!

Perfect semi-firm foam roller
UPDATE:I was looking for a softer full-sized foam roller pad to focus in on muscles that were just to tender for a hard, high density foam version (shiny black foam ones you see all over your search results). My gym had a semi-firm roller that felt good on my IT Bands and my hard roller at home did not at all feel good. I totally forgot I gave this roller to my ex-gf until I was over one day and she let me use it. It was perfect, so I ordered one for myself too. This roller is best described as semi-firm. It is anything but rock hard. It's perfect for extra tender spots like IT Bands. It does kill you when you happen to roll over a bone or tendon attachment point like a hard foam roller does. It flattens out enough under weight to spread the load out over a great surface area which is perfect. I highly recommend adding this roller to your arsenal. It has it's place next to your hard high density foam roller.Original Review:Great gift idea for using body weight to work out kinks in the back and legs.:My girlfriends uses this thing often and loves it. Great gift idea for using body weight to work out kinks in the back and legs. She's into yoga so she's got reasonable flexibility. I'm not as good at using it as she is, yet.

A pricey but effective tool for anyone suffering from Illiotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS). Also, the 36-incher isn't easy to store.
Aloha! In 2012, I came to the realization that I was getting older because I started to suffer from Illiotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS). After a long bout of feeling sorry for myself, a good friend of mine suggested that I try foam rolling. I had never done it before and it seemed like a strange idea. (Also, $40 seemed like a lot of money to spend on a 36-inch foam log.) Despite my hesitation, I gave it a try and I found it to be an effective way to deal with my problem. If you use this foam roller correctly, it can be a very helpful tool in your home gym. However, if you do not know what you are doing, it can definitely make your situation worse. I learned this the hard way. I suggest doing a little research so you can learn proper form and technique. There are countless tutorials on the Web so check them out before you start foam rolling. Trust me, you’ll be sorry if you rush into it. It is now March 2017 and I still use my foam roller once a week. It's in great shape. It's a little faded in color, but that's not a big deal to me. If I had to do it again, I perhaps would have purchased the 12-inch foam roller, which is about ten dollars cheaper and easier to store. My 36-inch foam roller doesn't fit under the bed. It can be challenging to find a proper place to store it. That another thing you should keep in mind.

Such a help and beautiful too
Foam rollers have been recommended to me by a lot of people - by my chiropractor, yoga teacher, friends, and my favorite youtube physical therapists, Bob & Brad :) I wanted one mainly to lie on it, to relax and open up the chest (which I can say is fabulous) but it's been so helpful for working out tension all over my body. I recommend you just experiment and do what feels good, or explore the youtube video instructions available. There were a lot of foam rollers to choose from on amazon, and I was a bit overwhelmed, so I picked this one because it was a good price, the right firmness for me, and because the type of foam had better safety reviews. I thought the color would be nice too - which does matter to me. I was even more pleased than I expected when it came, to find it's a beautiful blue, darker than the image on amazon, really beautiful. That makes me smile. And my body LOVES using it. So glad I purchased it, highly recommend :)

Great product
I already had one and loved it so much, I bought this one for my mother with chronic pain like myself. The great part of it is, if you can lie on the floor. You can use it in your bed. It’s stiff enough to do the same in your bed. I recommend it to anyone who has trouble laying or getting up from floor. I use it daily and it’s better than a chiropractor. Cracks my spine from neck to lumbar and eases all of my tension. I recommend a softer one if you’ve had a fusion or serious back issues. Consult with a Doctor prior to using the stiff one. It’s amazing and gets deep into soft tissue to release spasms. If rolling on it and you come across a knot. Leave it on the knot for a while until it releases it. Don’t keep rolling over it.
