If you are looking for longer deck screws
I have always used deck screws for my wood projects because of their strength and in the case of these wood screws, a torx-25 head. This allows for driving screws without stripping out the head. I also purchased the 5-inch screws for the task. If you are going into hard woods, you must drill pilot holes. I'd recommend pilot holes for any screw driving task when driving into wood. The only drawback is that I did not need a 5-pound box, but this was the only pack size available. The quality is excellent. I will buy them again.

Expensive but high quality.
Not sure why I’m offered “sheerness” and “thickness” as categories to rate these deck screws...anyway, these are great and the star drive is way more solid than the lousy old philips head! My only beef is how expensive the suckers are...but hey, they are coated or whatever, and will deliver a lifetime of joy, so I guess you get what you pay for!

Work Well with Treated Pine
I did some work recently mending sections of our wooden backyard fence that was coming apart thanks to frequent high winds and a lousy original construction. These really did the trick much better than nails ever could. We opted for #10 x 4 1/2" so we could get a nice bite through the pickets, cross beams, and into the 4x4 fence posts.Used nearly every screw that came in the bucket, encountered no issues whatsoever, and they drove in like a knife through butter with a Milwaukee cordless driver of mine, which I already had a bit for.

Go in easily with Dewalt 996 cordless
I have these in several lengths, even the longest ones go in smoothly without pre drilling but I pre drill for the longer lengths more to do with getting the thing in straight than not driving easily. I use a Dewalt 996 1/2 cordless and they drive in very consistently through drywall and wood studs. Have not had an issue with breakage or stripping the torx head in the screws, use a good low speed hi torque drill.

Worked great
Needed long deck screws to go through doubled up 2x joists and secure something on the other side. I could not find this size at the big box stores or at the local lumber/deck specialty place. I didn't need such a large box, but always good to have extra for future projects and repairs. Arrived quickly and worked great.

Great screws
No problems; went in easy and the splines in drive heads were clean.

though I've seen much better deck screws
I have had a few of these snap while being driven into regular softwood two-by lumber. Some are wobbly, and, even with the torx head, cam-out is an issue unless your driving angle is dead on. Having said that, the screws are decent overall, though I've seen much better deck screws.

No complaints. Worth the money. Make sure you have a torx driver. One does not come with it. You are going to want to put these in with a decent drill or a little impact driver. They are long and you do not want to be twisting a screwdriver.
