I specially purchased this cable to connect my midi keyboard to GarageBand on my iPad Pro. Worked like a charm. Worth every penny. No glitches...

Does this work with iPhone now with newest/latest OS?

I have an iPhone X with the latest software update and I use this often to connect my Blue Yeti mic and my AT2100 mic to my iPhone and record audio.

Does it work with iPad Pro?

It does, at USB 2 speeds. The 12.9" iPad Pro is capable of USB 3 speeds, which are better for transferring large content (e.g. 4K video). To get USB 3 speed transfers, you would have to buy the "Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter."

Will this allow me to plug in a usb card reader and download images from a memory card?

It should but it really depends on how much power the reader needs. My Mini 2 has limited power available for devices. I have one reader that works with the cable, another that doesn't. Interestingly enough, the mini does power my full size midi controller with no problems at all. If the iPad doesn't provide enough power you can always plug the iPad into a powered USB hub and then connect the reader to the hub. That will provide power to run devices that the iPad by itself can't. Hope that helps a little.
