Hate halogens? Buy these!
I installed some of the $10 GU10 cans from Lowes in my new office. There are six bunched together to provide plenty of light to a desk or in my case, a figure collection. The Halogens were bright and the instant-on is nice, but they were hot! And these are vinyl models that they are shining on. So I decided to try LEDs. I've had great luck with Ikea's Dioder lights, but those are pucks and strips only, no GU10 base bulbs. Anyway, the LED bulbs (cheapies from Sam's Club) did not fit properly in the can face and were very dim... horribly dim.So when I found these guys I was pretty hesitant, but went ahead anyway. That was a GREAT decision! These things are BRIGHT, even more so than the halogens. They have a warm glow, but softer than halos. All my lights are soft white CFLs, 150 and 100 watt equivalents, and these compliment them brilliantly. They don't heat up the collection and provide an even brighter, more filling light than the halogens ever did. There are some caveats, however. Cold startup is relatively slow, but still quick for a CFL, definitely for a specialty one. Then again, I'm used to instant-on CFLs and much brighter ones at that... and I have almost double the standard number of cans in every room... I like my light. Either way, they brighten up quickly and provide you with the best light you can buy in a GU10-base!Second issue: these are longer than your standard halogen bulb, so be certain they will fit in your lamp. I had plenty of space left in the smallest GU10 from Lowes (well, the $10 kit), but double check, just in case.Third: no cover - the coil is recessed in the housing, but there is no glass covering that up. Not really a big deal for most people, but it may annoy the perfectionist. So, no doubt about it, these are great! It remains to be seen how long they will last. The Insteon network I set up has these turning on and off twice, daily. I'll be sure to update or repost should there be lifespan problems.Buy these!EDIT 2011.12.01Of my six bulbs, I just lost first two! One went out over the Thanksgiving holiday and the other dropped out only a few minutes ago. That is quite a good run for as often as I switch these on and off. Twice a day and then again once or twice just before bed... I usually forget something in the office four or five times a week. Not sure if I've hit a wall and will lose the others soon, but I'll be sure to update this review as things go. Guess I'll order some spares, just in case.

Solid product
The size is considerbly longer than standard GU10 bulbs. If you can fit them to your needs, the energy savings are well worth the purchase. After 6 months of use, there has been no fading, and the heat output (like most fluorescent bulbs) is very minimal. We have tried a few of the low-energy LED products for the GU10 fittings. Unfortunately, we've yet to find an LED fitting that will compare to lighting capability of a halogen light. These seem to come closest to matching light output (or lumens).Until the LED options improve, we will stick to buying these.

Satisfied
Bought one of these to replace some track lighting hologens. Only purchased one because I wanted to make sure it matched my tastes -- I had purchased an LED light of similar specifications and was very disappointed in the warmth of the light. This bulb was actually nicer than the hologens that I had in place and I look forward to purchasing more soon.I would give this product 5 stars if it were just a bit less expensive. I think $9-10 would be more appropriate

Soft and dim
Fits well into the socket. It is a typical CFL in that it takes a full minute to come up to full brightness. However, you do sacrifice light intensity for the wattage you save. The light is soft and spread out, versus an incandescent spot which is bright and crisp and well defined. We are using this light in a retail store application. I dont recommend this light for commercial usage, however if used in a residential application, I think it would work just fine. In either case, the advantage that this light has is its long life expectancy and power savings versus incandescent. Incandescent spot bulbs last only half as long as they advertise.

Dimmable bulb at less costly than HomeDepot
This bulb was a replacement for a HomeDepot fan bulb. However, with an added remote control, this allows the luxury of dimming, making all the more a plus. And at less the price than HomeDepot pricing

Only barely acceptable
The bulbs provide enough light for a bath, but it takes several minutes for the bulbs to reach full luminance. The outside coating on the coil part of the bulb is cheap and easily flakes off. Handle with care.

light bulb
This item is just what I've been looking for. It's an energy saver and the output is cool to the touch at a lower wattage than halogen bulbs.
