This was the direct replacement for the original bird bath pump that died last fall. It's small, powerful, and easy to regulate flow. The only issue, and it's not the pump manufacturers issue, was that the seal on the bird bath couldn't be removed without damage. So, I cut the power cord of the pump and pushed it through the existing seal/plug and respliced it near the end of the power cable. I used a waterproof housing to protect the splice against moisture. It would've been nice if the power cord disconnected from the pump so a splice wouldn't be necessary. So far, no problems at all.

I'e ionly had it a short time. We'll see how it holds up. It's quite and it works.

I bought a little stone zen fountain from a shop in Sonoma about a year ago. It is hand made. The pump was always giving me issues and when the water would run low due to humidity or climate it always made a noise. I recently vacationed to Hawaii and when I came back, yep the pump had burned out. I quickly did a little research on it and discovered the pump would only last for a few hours with no water. So, I bought this one. It is waaaay better!! It is quieter, has more control over the flow, is a little more descete and has the added bonus of lasting 360 hours with no water. I am very pleased. Especially because when I bought the fountain the lady in the store said, and I quote "once this pump goes out, this fountain is done". Well Nope! She was wrong, thanks to this pump!

I don't usually write reviews because I'm lazy but I'm literally grateful for this product. I bought a dog water fountain to entice my old dog to drink more water and it worked fantastically until the pump died. She has big droopy lips and drops food in the water dish. The pump gets clogged and I have to take it apart to clean it. Well, it happened while I was at work and the pump burned out. And when the pump died, my old hound was disinclined to drink again. I tried several little pumps before this but this one fits the fountain and it pumps the mucky water she leaves behind. I gave it three stars for installing because the fat cord that comes out of it makes it difficult to squeeze into the fountain but I angled it several times and fought the fountain base until it fit. All the other pumps had a thin, easily manipulated cord. But they're a waste because they couldn't do what this one does. It already turned off because clogged filters once, so the antiburnout system works. And honestly don't care if it only works for a few months because this pump still 1/10th the price of a whole new dog fountain. I thank you and my dog thanks you!!

Update: I installed it a couple of days after receiving it and as you can read below, I was pleased. Now it has stopped working. From the picture on the website, it shows a slide switch that adjusts flow. It even shows a + to - with by the slide and did not notice one when I put it in the water. Nevertheless, there is no adjustment switch on mine. I even searched the bottom of my fountain. It was working fine this morning and now, nothing.******************************************************* It has been installed for a couple of weeks, so I can't write about longevity. However, the reason I bought it was there is a feature that shuts it off if the water gets too low. I have burned some out in the past, so that was the chief reason I chose this particular pump.From the base to the outlet on my fountain is approximately 20 inches, so it is perfect for the job.

I am using this in a less than three foot three tier fountain. I have only had it in for a few days, but I have been very pleased with it so far.It is much smaller than the previous pumps I have gotten from HF which makes it easier to install, but it moves 150 gph whereas the HF pumps only moved 110 gph. This gives it enough oomph to get the water up and out quickly on starting, and keeps the water flowing over the tiers with a greater volume.We will have to see if the pump will last more than one season and how resistant it is to clogging. At this point though, I plan to use this pump in my other fountain when it needs to be replaced.

I installed it in a three step outdoor fountain. When reading the instructions it suggests taking it apart and cleaning the filter every two weeks! It has a one year warranty but the warranty does not apply if proper maintenance has not been followed. So, we'll see what happens. I just am not going to take the three layer heavy fountain full of colorful rocks apart to clean the pump every two weeks.
