My Big Wimmelbook—Animals Around the World

I got this for my 2 1/2 year old son who LOVES animals. I've never met another kid as obsessed with all types of animals as he is. He is especially fond of zoo animals and this looked like it would be great. There are so many things to find and see in this book. It is very bright and colorful and so fun to sit down and "read" with him. Endless opportunities of him pointing and telling me what things are and me doing the same, lots of games to be made up. I can't wait to purchase the new zoo animal book they came out with. Would recommend to anyone whose kid loves animals.

I got the whole series for my 2 year old and she is obsessed about these books. She brings them all and we "read" them for over an hour at a time, hardly anything can hold her attention for this long. She learns new vocabulary daily thanks to these books. I used to import these from Germany but I'm glad these are now getting popular in the USA too! The best part - daughter is bilingual, and these picture books can be used in both languages, both by mom and dad! Beautiful illustrations, well thought, packed with action and the same characters through consecutive pages so we can work on sequencing skills of storytelling, too (first X happened on page 1, then Y happened on page 2 etc).

My 21 month old absolutely loves this book. The scenes are beautifully illustrated and simply packed with details that can be pointed out (find the bear, now find the polar bear, find the blue frog, find the snake in the tree, find the cat sleeping on on the car, and so on for hours on end). I was surprised to find that in addition to animals (ALL the animals - everything from farm animals to pets to all manner of more exotic creatures), there are a surprising number of other toddler-friendly things to find like vehicles, people, clothing, etc. As she is learning to identify more animals and other things, I can use the same scenes to teach new concepts (colors, directions, sizes, activities, etc.), but what I particularly like is that the pictures really lend themselves to telling stories - each page has that same guy taking pictures in a tent, someone with a motorcycle, a bird delivering a letter, and so on. Many of the people and animals are doing interesting things you can describe in different ways, which also makes "reading" the book less tedious for adults than actual books with words.I don't doubt that older kids would appreciate this book in other ways too, but at this rate our book will have fallen apart from constant use long before we find out. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

This is a great upgrade if you child loves the “First Look and Find” type books. My daughter has learned all kinds of animal names, and she loves when I ask her to count or find different animals. Highly recommend.

My 3 year old loves the hell out of these books. For those that aren't aware, these are similar to where's Waldo except the scenes are less cluttered and more interesting. The goal is to find characters or objects listed in the front of the book. The characters may have a car or a hat in one scene, and may by different enough in another scene to keep things interesting for Pre-K kids.

We spend at least 20 min a day with my 18 months old trying to name all the animals. I wish there was a place to look all them up cuz neither me or my husband know all of them. We are learning smth new with the kid. The book is great for ages from 1 until when they understand the actions. Not sure when it happens , but I hope to use for another year at least. Once we find all the animals names in this book we will proceed with cars edition.

My son prefers the books of vehicles rather than the animals, but this is another great picture book full of details and fun for my toddler and his cousin. If your child likes animals, this should be a favorite. My complaint is there are so many (and unusual) animals that my son wants to know what they are, and I don’t know and the book doesn’t tell you.

It took me a while to decide on a picture book to order for my son. We’re stuck in the house a lot these days (pandemic) and he needs to be kept busy. He adores this book and wants to look through it again and again! It’s so fun and detailed! I love it too! I ordered another one in this series two days after receiving the first... expect it in the mail today! Very excited!

Great book full of details to learn a lot.
