I had to work more than I wanted too crack nuts.

It’s nice but hard to crack a nut. I guess you will get a work out with it. But I thought it would make it easier to crack open nuts.

The easiest to use cracker for small nuts (hazelnuts, small almonds and Brazil nuts). The handles are really sturdy and comfortable and don't require extra strength to crack the nuts. Also, the rubber bed with cross grooves makes it easy to hold the nuts in place and find the best position for the cleanest crack. No more flying pieces of shell across the table and even the room - the broad handles keep everything in place. Compared to the previous nutcracker I had, this one is cleaner, easier and more pleasant to use.

The concept is great. Unfortunately, there is a design flaw in that the flat metal used for the tool is not sufficiently rigid so if your nut or, in our case chestnut, requires just a little bit of extra pressure, the bottom branch bends. Ours did. I've straightened it out and will use it until it dies, but in looking for an alternate, I will be looking for sturdiness.

It's a nice nutcracker, but after cracking a large number of nuts you can feel the sharp edges of the handles digging into your palm. Could those handles be manufactured with somewhat softer edges?
