Does the eraser have a locking mechanism when it twists up? Essentially I'm wondering if the eraser untwists back into the pencil when you erase.

As another replied, it twists back down... quickly IMO. However, don't let that prevent you from buying the pencil set. I've used other mechanical pencils (I'm selective) and this pencil is superior... it writes very smoothly, colorful and comfortable. I'm a repeat buyer and better priced than what I'd get in store. I love the lead size (not so common), you get extra leads & erasers AND if you're a test taker, it's #2 ! Untwist about 1/4" - 3/8" and hold in place to erase.

Are the pencils random colors or are they a certain color

Where can you buy eraser refills for ClearPoint pencils? Can't find them in stock anywhere for months. Have they stopped making them?

There's no eraser refill specifically for each mechanical pencil. But we manufactured a standard eraser refill before with an item number 64892. You may try checking some office supply if they still carry it.
