This one has useful information, and sometimes not so useful information. Well, some of it can be down right, ridiculous, tacky, and silly. But; the useful information in it will be secrets that are little known and very informative and valuable. It can contain trade secrets, and insider information, and there's where it pays for itself. The book does pay for itself in some places.

This book changed my life. The underlying theme is conservation- of money and resources. The book is divided into two themes: the author's essays on saving money and tips sent in by readers. The essays are the best, always well thought out and well written. The tips sent in by readers (the "book" was taken from a weekly newsletter), are sometimes very good, and sometimes a bit extreme. It opens your eyes though, to how much we waste. It makes you realized just how little a person or family really needs to get by. We are a very spoiled society, and reading this book makes you understand why, without preaching. If you want to cut your budget a little, this is the book. If you want to rethink your entire lifestyle and become more earth friendly, this is the book. I loved this book and have given it to several friends and family members who are consuming themselves into debt, or just need guidance on how to live more cheaply.

This is one of the greatest books I have ever bought. I also have the Tightwad Gazette III. Tons and tons of great tips with what to do with old things. Things that were going in the trash are now being used for some other purpose. We found out how to get free or 1/2 price Domino's pizza by just claiming a pizza that was ordered but no one came after it! Wow, why didn't WE think of that?! You will LOVE all the ideas in this book! Buy both ! They are not in print anymore so grab one whenever you see one.

It was exactly what I wanted

I prefer frugal. Since becoming a SAHM I've learned to practically recycle everything into something else, this book is an amazing guide for doing just that!!One con about this book is that there are no guidelines on how to read it. Seriously you can be reading something and the next page is something 100% completely different. It's a little hard in that respect and is most definitely a book bathroom book.

i had these books in the 90's, gave them away:( Missed them and bought this one, frugal is fun!

If in these rough times just keeping a job is the best you can do this book is for you. Want freedom from being a shop-a-holic , buy it now. What you will find are tons of ways to keep what you make and maybe even save a little and have some fun learning a new life style where its O.K. to reuse, shop a round for a better price or just plain o do with out it. love anything to do with saving and being frugal... lots of ideas in here ive seen before - but it did come out over 10 years ago so thats to be expected. still so "new" ideas for me to think about!

This book will teach you how to economize without feeling it, how not to waste and squander without realizing (usually the biggest problem), and how to lever your money. Buy something that will save you big bucks as years go by and that is savings and a good choice. It is fun reading, like an almanac , with stores and side notes and cute sketches and real life examples. like a readers' Digest of ideas that make you realize how many holes your money habits have. You will start a broth bag in the freezer and realize you just made great free soup. Buying costumes suddenly seems wrong because you now have ideas. You will start to barter with friends. You will become a MacGuyver and be proud of saving money.
